Oersoep Brouwlab — Restaurant in Nijmegen

I went here with my colleagues to chill and have drinks. The location is quite far from the city center, however, it is also the reason why the place is perfect for a cozy catch up with friends away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The view of the river from second floor is magnificent. Service is good and staff are great as well. I ordered the Pulled Pork, it was nice, delish, but I'm quite not sure if the price is right. The beers are nice and tasty, you have to scan the QR code in the menu to see the entire list of all the beers. Too bad that some of the beers are not available that time. If you plan to go here, better if you go by bike or car (but you can't drink as much), this is 30mins walk from the train station and/or around 18 mins walk from the nearest bus stop. :). I could imagine that the place has a lot for you to explore if you come and visit during summer or when the sun is out so you can sit outside and enjoy the drinks under the sun overlooking the river...

As a student I used to work in the Honig factory. In the former soup department you find Stoom.

In a tapas restaurant, you get all kinds of small bites. You know what you are gonna get. In "Stoom" you can oder "dishes". No-one told us, it is only one snack, and you have to order side dishes if you want it to be a whole meal. What you get for 8,50€ is one slice of sweet potatoe withy either three tiny pieces of lamb or a pinch of creamcheese and a few lentils. That's all.

We ordered french fries on the side, after we saw how tiny the portions were. They arrived just in time after we finished our plates.

The only plus was the beer. But we were there to eat, mainly. And we left hungry. The french fries, by the way, were very salty and the fat did not seem too fresh, as I kept feeling the meal wanted to make a comeback for hours.

This place is very cool. With a lovely setting and location, awesome beers from neighboring Oersoep micro brewery and fantastic burgers and other dishes. I really liked the mixture of 40s/40s, mothers with babies and older couples. This is very cool for a cozy great time. Tips: try going for beer tastings; know in advance that there is no waiting service- you order at the bar and pick up the food from the kitchen (cool concept but better to know in advance before you sit at top floor away from kitchen...); pulled pork was so great that it’s even better than the burgers. Sadly it’s only a temp special now.. I had the Stoom Burger which contains a pile of pp which is fantastic. All in all, very cool place to come back to, it would have been best to know some tips in advance and to book a table to avoid waiting with a beer...
