We've been there on a Monday evening and had a disappointment after disappointment.
The staff, which is super friendly, pleasant and welcoming is the exact opposite when it comes to service quality and professionally. Tea was ordered, and the hot water did arrive swiftly, but without tea. The salad arrived quite quickly, but without bread. A dessert was suggested with alternative ice cream, until another waiter came to explain that the alternative ice-cream is also not available.
All of that could have been easily overlooked if the food was good, but - unfortunately - next to the food, the service seemed like a michelin star quality:
We ordered a carpaccio salad, slow-cooked ribs and a dame blanche.
The ribs arrived first, and very quickly - within 5 minutes from ordering, they were already served. While tender, they were covered with sauce from unknown origin. The ribs didn't taste like ribs, or meat of any kind - but rather all tasted like the sauce. Furthermore, the membrane was not removed, which means I had to remove it at the table, which is a messy process even without that sticky goo of a sauce all over it. The end result together with how quickly the dish was served, and the cold portions of it - made me wonder if it wasn't microwaved before service. The fries were well fried, and the ketchup was tasty.
The salad was swimming in sauce as well (truffle mayonnaise) - thus although my partner would very much want to describe the freshness of vegetables and quality of meat - she couldn't taste any of those, and can only suggest that the carpaccio tasted like truffle mayonnaise, as well as everything else.
The dessert which I mentioned above never arrived to the table. I want to tell that it was a happy ending to a sad meal, but apparently there was a miscommunication between the freezer and the management, as the freezer decided to go on strike, killing all types of ice cream in the process.
To be fair, the waiter did offer us a hot beverage as compensation, which was very nice , but we were so disappointed at that point, that we just wanted to leave.
The beer was excellent.
I am amazed to see that place received 4.2, I can only hope that we just arrived on a bad evening, however- with such a catastrophic experience - a sushi at albert-heijn is a money better spent. and ah usually have a nice selection of ice cream as...
