Disappointing Experience – Not Recommended We visited Gran Sasso in Rijswijk last Friday and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. The atmosphere felt tense, largely due to the attitude of the owner, who created a negative and unwelcoming environment. His control over the staff was noticeable — they weren’t even allowed to take simple drink orders like water without his approval.

Service was extremely slow. It took far too long before we were able to order drinks and food, which added to the frustration.

We started with a carpaccio, but it was drowned in sauce — so much so that the taste and texture of the meat were completely lost. As a main course, we ordered the spaghetti prepared in a large Parmesan cheese wheel. We've enjoyed this dish before in both Italy and the Netherlands, but this version was by far the worst. Again, the sauce was overpowering and unbalanced.

In short: this is not a place I would return to. Sadly, both the service and food were below standard. A different owner and chef might completely change the experience — until then, I’d recommend...

Poor service and poor quality food. We had to wait almost 2h although we were the first customers in the restaurant. Once the food finally arrived the bottom of one of the pizzas was as solid as a rock. When we flagged this to the waiter he argued with us that Italian pizza should be like this (the bottom was burnt...) After some argument they agreed to make a new pizza, which we then had to take home because all others had...

Typische Italiaan tussen z'n vaste klanten. Wij kwamen uit Antwerpen terug gereden en wilde ergens onderweg iets eten, gelukkig hadden ze nog een plekje voor ons drieën. Het begon met wisselen van tafel, tafel niet schoon en gedekt maar dit gebeurde allemaal op een nette manier. Voor een lange tijd konden we niet ons eten bestellen en we hadden al best wat trek.. toen kwam na een tijdje wachten ons voorgerecht, waaronder iets dat we niet besteld hadden maar daar moesten we maar gewoon wat mee zien te doen.. Daarna hebben we voor een uur lang, minimaal, met een leeg glas gezeten en de obers waren zo druk dat het vragen ook niet ging.. De Italiaan had al gezegd dat onze pizza's in de oven zaten maar drie kwartier later hadden we ze nog steeds niet.. Mijn eigen pizza was erg lekker, gewoon met salami, de andere met vier kazen was ook prima, dan aangekomen bij de pizza met ham, erwtjes, ei, champignons, zwarte olijven. Deze pizza zag (zoals je op de foto kunt zien) eruit alsof alles behalve het ei en de 2 stukjes champignons, uit een blikje kwamen. Echt heeel onsmakelijk... Hij is ook niet opgegeten.. we hebben nog wat drinken van het huis gekregen omdat de ober zo vriendelijk was om te vragen wat er mis was met de pizza en of we iets anders wilde. Geen goede ervaring, zelf wel lekker...
