Halcon Mexicon Food — Restaurant in Rotterdam

Nice fresh food for a good price. I went there on a Monday. I ordered five tacos and two quesadillas. When I came to pick it up, I was greeted by the family of the owner. The place looked nice and clean and I had a nice chat with said owner. He just switched the opening days from being closed on Monday to being closed on Tuesday. I pointed out that this was not reflected yet on the website. So I had to phone in my order. Which is not a problem for me. When I arrived home I noticed that the portions are nice with lots of filling. It looked like it was made with love for mexican cuisine, with lots of fresh ingredients. The only note for my taste is that it could be a bit spicier. The birria tacos were my favourite. The chicken taco was a bit too wet, which made the taco tear. But it tasted delicious. I really hope that they will add taco al pastor to the menu. Then they will probably see me every week. I highly recommend this place. And I will definitely be coming again.

My second trip there, was also excellent! I had the Costilla, Pollo Tinga and the Frijoles Refritos Taco. The Frijoles Refritos Taco was my favourite. You can wake me up for those! The other ones where also delicious. I just wished I bought some...

Firstly, there’s a self-order kiosk in the cafe, but some menu items are listed only in Spanish, without English or Dutch translations, which can be confusing. If possible, I recommend ordering directly at the counter for clarity.

Secondly, the food is just great - fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious! We always go for the original quesadilla, a few tacos, and a burrito - everything is consistently excellent. There are also taco deals for two or three tacos, as well as meal deals, so be sure to mention these when ordering at the counter to get the best value.

They offer the option to pre-order food on their website for quick pickup, but if they’re not too busy, ordering on the spot usually means a wait time of just 10 minutes. I keep coming back here and highly recommend you...

So I'm Mexican, and to be honest, the food is not 100% authentic. Actually, not even close to being authentic. The best part about Halcon were the taco de birria con queso. However, the tacos de costilla was very mediocre. It lacked taste and creativity. Usually costilla is very juicy and flavourful, which this costilla did not have. Also, the service was also not great. It seemed like they had messed up numerous orders and the staff had to go back into the kitchen more than once with food on hand. Lastly, I was disappointed to know that they had ran out of Al pastor for their tacos, quesadillas and burritos. I was looking forward to trying this as it is a staple to Mexican Street food.
