I think its becoming quite obvious that this place has a management problem. Yes, they used to be good. Very good in fact. But now they have the 'golden triangle' problem which -if they choose to- they could get out of it quite easily but I dont think that will be the case (as customers still keep coming). The biggest problem (as many people have written here) is the service. I am not naive. I do not expect levels of service which you get in most countries outside of the Netherlands (including 'cold' Germany) but here it is on another level. The service is poor. Very poor. I dont expect smiles and hospitality (been in Holland too long for that) but the coldness COMBINED with the poor service (forgetting to bring items, billing the wrong table, general air of complacency, etc) just screams 'i dont care, this place fills up anyway' attitude (and if you see the crowd, it has become much less international, as these people have experienced what a cafe should be). Secondly, the food. Yes, the coffee is good. But the food has become EXTREMELY bland here. And that is sad. I dont want to be nasty but I have had airplane food which has more taste than the recent cooking going on here. Looking at the kitchemn, its all good vibes and giggles between the cooks but guys, how about giving things a taste before they go out? Finally, paying the bill. Every single customer (including myself) had to point where we sat, then it wasnt understood, then you have to repoint, etc. Solution? Just put a small number on the table, its not that hard. It might not 'look' classy but literally every cafe has it now to avoid this issue. All in all, long story short, do yourself the favor and accept that all great romances end one day and try to give other VERY, very good coffee places in Rotterdam a try and let this place be for what it...
Read more3 years ago we started going to this place (very often), things were great, 5 stars.
Since then, it seems to us that there were obvious attempts to make the place generate more money (bigger, faster, more expensive while what they serve seems cheaper) but unfortunately with a steady decline of quality.
Specifically:
The food looks/tastes like it’s made out of cheap ‘supermarket materials’ put together quickly. The other day we got a croque monsieur which was basically raw bread and cheese on top of each other, with half the salad and chips of what it used to be. ‘Extra bacon’ on an avocado toast was a barely cooked single slice of bacon for €1,5. Yesterday we saw that the breakfast now includes smaller toast, smaller croissant and plastic-hotel-like-single-packages of jam and butter.
The service is okay/good but not as friendly as before. The waiters change very often (makes you wonder why?) and the whole thing feels more procedural and dry instead of having a relationship with your locals.
The great atmosphere is gone, now it’s always too loud (people & music), too crowded and somehow the character isn’t there. Which is what happens to most of the places who grow big. So from being our favourite cafe, now we go there when we don’t have another option. Of course it’s subjective but the sad thing is that you see how it could be so much better so easily.

Read moreI had gone here in the afternoon with a friend for a cup of coffee. This coffee brand is an established brand among the more experienced coffee drinkers. I am not a coffee specialist but I do like a good cup of coffee. You can sit inside or outside at this place and also eat something.
We drank coffee here and ate something tasty. The coffee is roasted here as well. It is a nice flat white that I had. Besides that we had the hazelnut cake and white chocolate cake which were both delicious.
The staff was very nice. It took a little while when our first order was taken but after that everything went pretty fast.
The place is quite big. The interior is large because, among other things, the roastery is also inside, but besides that there is also plenty of room to sit. The interior is decorated with light colors and tiles on the wall. The plants inside and the wooden interior give it a cozy atmosphere. There is also a large terrace for the coffee shop attached.
When we were inside there was no music playing in the store. (What I always find unfortunate).
All in all. a good place for a nice...
