Restaurant Café West — Restaurant in Utrecht

Yesterday evening 10th of Oktober we went for dinner at this restaurant. The food was really good and the wide range of wine & beers is nice. Unfortunately we had some issues with the staff. When I kindly asked one of the waiters if I could order a drink, she told me that I had to wait a minute. After asking it the second time, she gave me the same answer in a rude way. Eventually I got my drink but I had to wait for more than 15 minutes to be helped. I ordered a half dish and asked for an extra sweet potato fries as a side dish. My other two friends asked for a whole hamburger dish with sweet potato fries, instead of the regular fries. So I had the feeling that some of the staff weren't updated of what the possibilities were for their guests. One of the waiters told me that ordering a portion of sweet potato fries was not possible. But one of our friends could order a side dish of potato fries (so that was confusing). I told the waitress that my friend could order a side dish of potato fries, so I kindly asked if I could order that too. The waitress looked very irritated and said something like "Ugh okey then". Then they than gave my other friend twice(!) half a Hamburger dish with REGULAR fries, instead of the sweet potato fries (which we kindly asked for when they took our order). My friend had to tell the waitresses twice that she didn't order half a hamburger with normal fries, but she ordered a whole hamburger with sweet potato fries. When we confronted the waitress with this issue, she told me in a very very un hospitable way "Look you already had way more fries than you were supposed to, so I can't give you any more". I think that when you take an order for a table you should write down everything the correct way, so that you don't make these mistakes. We didn't felt welcomed by this, and it was not needed at all. The waitress tried to make it up and told us that she would remove all the fries from our bill and apologised to us. Which was nice, but when we got the bill she didn't removed the fries from our bill and that left us with a small irritation. Since one of our friend was celebrating her birthday, after all we had a nice dinner and our friend had a nice...

I am thorn between 3 and 4 start. They have some great dishes, especially the small dishes. The main dishes disappointed a bit. Also the lack of some fries and a salad to go with they main course feel odd for a place like this. The positive points are, great drinks and reasonable prices (very full glasses of wine) Small dishes and desert were very nice. All in all, i'll go for 3 stars, because I won't go back just to get a bite to eat. I think if they would add a few fries and a small salad on the side with your main course. would give it a 4 star and would probably...

Mwah, eten was oké maar het is en blijft een café. We vroegen ons af of we niet gewoon alle gerechten tegelijk moesten laten bereiden/bezorgen. De serveerster zei: als je geen haast hebt, zou ik dat niet doen want dan krijg je alles tegelijk. Nou, we bestelden 3 gerechtjes de eerste gang. Twee kwamen vrij snel en we hebben 20 minuten moeten wachten op de derde. Vervolgens 30 minuten gewacht tot we weer konden bestellen, wat wederom zo'n 20 minuten duurde tot het gebracht werd. Ze waren ook een gang vergeten: we dachten we bestellen brood, dat is er meteen en dan kunnen we alvast eten.. Nee dus. Die kwam op het eind.

Dan wilden we nog een toetje bestellen. Die zijn natuurlijk al klaar gemaakt van tevoren maar ook dit heeft 20 minuten geduurd. We zaten er om 17:30 en liepen 20:30 weg. Om 20:00 was er een andere reservering op onze tafel maar snap niet hoe ze dat zouden doen normaal, als alles zo extreem lang duurt (terwijl veel gewoon al voorbereid is of gefrituurd).

Ik zou ook als tip willen meegeven: breng alles tegelijk. We moesten erg lang wachten tussen de gerechten door van dezelfde gang. Het verpeste volledig de sfeer, aangezien we wel gewoon met honger kwamen en wilden eten. En de porties zijn dusdanig klein dat je die zo'n beetje al verteerd hebt als de volgende komt.

Dus nee niet per se een goede ervaring, veel tijdverspilling maar ik denk dat dit meer management is dan...
