A small cozy hotel in the center of the town. The atmosphere takes you immediately to the times of the buccaneers with the very authentic marine furnishing and decorations. A romantic place, no doubt about it! The rooms are small, but offer everything you need for a two-night stay. The prices off season are a bit high. Just opposite the hotel there is a tower clock, which bell rings every hour, even late at night. This is really very annoying and wakes up the guests in 3, 4, 5…a.m.! For a touristic place this is unacceptable. The breakfast is good, but far from the quantity and quality for a price of €15/person. It is every morning kind of different, but the quality of the products is moderate. It is not a buffet, so there is no variety of choices. In other words, it's not worth it. So, maybe skipping the breakfast in the hotel would safe you money and lead you to the supermarket where you can buy the same products triple cheaper. The service of the staff is very good. A minus of the hotel is that pets are not allowed.
There is a free public parking nearby. The prices of the electric charge station there are rather high, so I don't recommend using these, especially if you drive a hybrid.
The restaurant of the hotel is another story! Very attractive atmosphere, delicious meals and excellent draft beer! The mussels and the lava cake are a must try! The staff is very kind and welcoming. Unfortunately, at 8 p.m. some dishes were already over, we couldn't try the spare ribs, but still I would recommend the restaurant for a...
Read moreThe Boekanier was better than we expected! Room was a great size, clean, and comfy beds. Breakfast was included in our price and it was delicious. Basket of variety of breads, plate of sliced cheese and meat (they brought me a special plate with tomatoes and cucumbers since I'm vegetarian), yogurt, boiled egg, bowl of fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee or tea. Filled us right up. Our room was extremely warm, we never did ask for a fan but they probably had one. Staff was super friendly and very accommodating. Would definitely go back. Loved staying in Vrouwenpolder and renting bikes, we biked to Dumburg for the day where we had found hotel prices to be much higher than Vrouwenpolder. Dunburg was much busier. Beach is super close to the Boekaneir, maybe a 10 minute walk. Steep stairs up to the room so if you have trouble with stairs you may need to find a main...
