Het Poorthuis — Restaurant in Wageningen

While the service was very nice and the ambience is full of life we were utterly disappointed by the food.

For +/-20 there is a vegetarian and chicken stew. One would think that with only 8+ items on the menu it would be, at least, a good stew. Not at all. The vegetarian stew was bland and sad. The chicken stew was basically just chicken pieces with lots of soja sauce (no spice by the way). While presented in a nice oven pot, it's clear that both were not made in the oven. Both plates resembled food that an amateur made quickly at home.

It was not worth the price in the slightest. You get a small portion, and with dry fries to share. I am surprised that this restaurant has such a good rating.

I really like this place and always bring my family and friends to this restaurant if they visit me in Wageningen! The portions are good enough and extremely delisious! The atmosphere is cozy with some kind of soft dark colour. I feel that here I can relax and enjoy nice converstaion and food. But I recommend that you should book the table in advance because this place is quite popular. I always order meat dishes, espesially steaks....

I've never met such rude people. They will just tell you to screw yourself when you kindly ask them to turn the the music a bit down on a Monday evening. I've never complained about a party and I don't mind at all. But...
