So, in a lot of places in the Netherlands, you can safely order the hottest thing on the menu like the jaded heat addict you are. Here, I got the duck dish ("eend", sounds like "pained" without the p) and chose "zeer pittig"--my mouth was not literally on fire, but figuratively it very much was. Great! I'm used to Mexican food, I love Carolina Reaper--this was not Reaper levels, but it was still quite spicy. Be warned! Or enticed. I'm sure the less-spicy version would've been strictly delicious.
It's nice that you can choose your spice level here. Some days you have a cold and you want to blast your esophagus with the fiery breath of Hades; other days you might have indigestion and just want something tasty with pineapple to help things along.
Tons of flavor in the dish I had. The "gebakken rijst" wasn't the flavorless white rice with little bits of egg/veggies/meat you get some places; it was quite flavorful. I would even eat that alone and not be bored, which never happens. Impressive.
If you try the Thai beers, Singha or Chang--frankly, I love IPAs and think many IPA lovers would enjoy the Chang, but for this particular IPA lover it was a bit too watery and skunky. Singha, however--perfectly respectable lager; feels like a Thai equivalent of Sam Adams.
Very nice takeout. I...

Take-out or dine in; their chefs nail it every time. The seasoning of the dishes is on point, and more importantly freshly prepared. The latter is especially proven in dishes such as the “plaa shoe shie”, fried fish served with a red curry sauce, my personal favorite.
I’d recommend to go here with a couple of friends so you can try different dishes. Furthermore, they serve homemade bubble tea and iced tea, both which are definitely worth stopping by for on a hot summer day 🥵
FYI, I checked with the owners, and apparently Google hasn’t removed the old reviews that belong to the previous owners. While the address is the only thing that remains the same, the new owners established Hong Thai...
Read moreWe went to this Thai restaurant for dinner! Since I've been going to Thailand for many years, I was excited to try the food. We ordered Pad Krapao and Massaman Curry. The Pad Krapao was okay, but not as flavorful as in Thailand. I missed the fried egg, and it included beans, which I've never had in Pad Krapao in Thailand. The Massaman curry was delicious, although it was a touch too sweet and had a strong coconut flavor, which was still delicious. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to trying the original in...
