The most blatantly racist experience we've had in the Backwerk in Zoetermeer. We purchased Coffee and paid in full with cash – the staff member at the counter, she carefully counted all the coins before handing over our order.
But as we left, things took a shocking turn.
One of the employees, alongside the manager, suddenly stopped us in the middle of the high street and accused us of stealing coffee. This was humiliating and completely uncalled for. I explained that we had paid and asked them to check with the staff member who served us – or simply review the CCTV. Instead of investigating properly, the manager became aggressive and started shouting. We were treated like criminals for absolutely no reason. What made it even worse was the deeply inappropriate, racially charged tone of the interaction. The staff member began yelling what sounded like “YaAllah, Yallah,” which was both unsettling and offensive. Not once did anyone offer an apology, even after realizing their mistake. This wasn’t just poor service – it was profiling and outright racism. I will never return to any BackWerk in the Netherlands and will strongly advise others to avoid it as well. What we wanted was a simple acknowledgment and apology for an unjust accusation. Instead, we were shouted at, humiliated, and disrespected. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. Shame on...
Read moreOn April 19, I would like to share the ridiculous experience we had. As a family, we were here for breakfast at 09:05 a.m. Most of the sandwiches were not ready yet. Interesting but acceptable. But the most interesting and the worst thing was that we asked if we ordered sandwiches that were not ready yet, could you give them priority and prepare them? One of the employees said yes, of course. we told him the sandwiches we wanted. The employee who was preparing the sandwiches in the kitchen in the back rudely stated that he did not want to prepare the order submitted by his colleague. his colleague said that my colleague did not want to prepare it. Of course, it was one of the most ridiculous situations I have ever encountered in my life. Will I visit again? Never!
We vertelden hem welke broodjes we wilden.
Read moreI wish I could give this place BackWerk Zoetermeer ZERO stars for their poor service. very rude both store manager and employees. even though I paid for coffee I was picked up from the street about 25 m far from the store the manager and an employee brought me back to the store as a thief and when they found out that I had already paid for coffee then without any apology asked me to leave the store. I recommend Douwe Egberts Café zoetermeer is next door with good coffee and in addition you get good customer respect Highly Not recommended!BackWerk Zoetermeer //////////////////___
