Came here for dinner with some friends during the week the other day and found our experience to be quite surprising.
I've been trying out some Asian restaurants in The Netherlands for a while now and often they leave a lot to be desired. Yet our experience at BaiYok wasn't necessarily "authentic", but it was good!
We ordered the following dishes: Tom kha kai Tom ka pak Kaeng pha naeng kai Nuanohad naam man hoi Nua phad krathiem prik thai
Both the Kha Kai and the Ka Pak were flavourful, well made and packed with protein. The Tom Kha Kai could have been elevated even more if they used a bit more herbs, yet for Dutch standards it was great.
The beef dishes: nr.41 & 42 were flavourful, made with a lot of sauce, but the beef here and there was quite tough and hard to chew. I'd say out of both dishes about 30% of the meat was chewy, the other part being lovely and melting in your mouth. The contrast was quite different.
The curry (nr.28) was of good quality and actually found the spiciness level to be smooth and warm. The chicken was beautifully cooked and very tender to eat.
I noticed that the dishes had a lot more meat than vegetables on average, which does serve to the Dutch culture. They truly tweek their dishes a bit to accommodate the Dutch palate.
All dishes tasted nice, were full of flavour and packed with protein. I wouldn't say that all of them were authentic, but as mentioned before: the quality and the flavours were nice. (Yet trailered for the caucasian palate)
All the staff were kind, they looked like they knew what their duties were and the place was running smoothly. Our dinner took about 30min to come out and that while the restaurant was fully booked.
They have several set menus available, yet the possibility of ordering a la carte is also available.
Lastly: the place looks beautiful, they truly wanted to incorporate a modern touch to their Thai cuisine, and I think they did that very well.
I would actually recommend lovers of Asian cuisine to visit BaiYok, since this has been the closest accurate Asian restaurant I have been to in The...
Read moreIt is the 5th time eating at the restaurant and 7 more taking out. Observation of 3 years. Deterioration of quality. Disappointing the last few times. At the beginning the overpriced dishes you would not mind to pay. The last times over the last year and this are disappointing. Our last time (cause we won't choose it again) was today. Loads of garlic in dishes that don't contain garlic usually. Yes we have tried Thai food from highly recommended restaurants in other countries too and in NL. 2 stars because we found one kind waitress, among the several serving you. It's bad to pay almost 60 euros for a starter, 2 main dishes and a side dish, which was ordered due to the fact that they didn't want to change the main serving of the dish. This never happened in any other Thai restaurant we tried. Always instead of rice people are happy to change for noodles. Plus, when the dish came wasn't served with the "normal" side dish since we would PAY for another one. The latter was rice noodles with baked egg.. full of garlic adding more garlic into your pallet as the other dishes did, not good baked egg. As aforementioned, sadly,...

Dining at BaiYok was an absolute treat! This Thai gem offers a perfect balance of authentic flavors, elegant presentation, and warm, attentive service. From the moment we stepped in, the cozy atmosphere and welcoming staff set the tone for a relaxed and flavorful evening.
We started with the tom kha kai soup and spring rolls—both bursting with fresh herbs and rich, balanced flavor. For the main course, the green curry with prawns and pad thai were simply outstanding. The spice level was just right, and you could really taste the freshness of the ingredients in every bite.
The menu is well-curated, with plenty of vegetarian options and the flexibility to adjust spice levels to your preference. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and made excellent recommendations.
Whether you’re a Thai food enthusiast or just looking for a quality dining experience with bold, vibrant flavors, BaiYok is absolutely worth a visit. A true taste of Thailand, right...
