We tried the chicken tikka (starter), chicken kadhai, chicken tikka masala, daal makhni, a couple of cheese and garlic naans. We also got the Rose wine, Whiskey and a coke.
The quantity of mains is very, very small. For the price, it's really not worth it. There are other Indian restaurants who do justice to their quantities and the flavor that they present in the food. It was like having food from one of those fast food Indian takeaways. Not upto the mark.
The staff are nice but the owner - Anurag is very arrogant. Honestly, his presence and etiquettes are very poor. This place just means business for him. He wanted to charge us 10$ for a takeaway box if we wanted to take our left overs (very small quantity again). The reason we didn't eat was because we didn't like the food. He even went back in the kitchen (was talking in Hindi, thank god I understand the language) and was telling his staff to push people to buy more and take money for takeaway containers by saying its made with plastic and everything is expensive...haha. Honestly just goes to show that this person does not care about the experience that a customer feels in his restaurant but the money aspect for things.
Would like to mention, I have tried other indian restaurants and this one just has nothing...

We had a truly fantastic evening at Khana this past Saturday night. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our host, who was incredibly charming and attentive throughout the evening.
We were a group of seven and started with the mixed entrée platter – beautifully presented and packed with flavour. For mains, we shared six different curries, all of which came with generous servings of rice and naan bread, plus a lamb biryani that was absolutely delicious – fragrant, tender, and perfectly spiced.
Every dish was fresh, beautifully cooked, and full of authentic Indian flavours. The service was exceptional – friendly, knowledgeable, and thoughtful, without ever being intrusive.
Due to a few last-minute cancellations, we ended up having the restaurant to ourselves – a rare treat, but also a reminder of how important it is to support local gems like this. Khana deserves to be full every night – the food, the service, and the atmosphere are all first class.
Highly recommended to anyone in the St Heliers area (or beyond!) looking for an outstanding Indian dining experience. We’ll...
Read moreAmazing Indian food and dining experience brought by Anurag and his brilliant chef Gautam.
We started with the Vegetable Samosas which came with a delicious housemade Tamarind sauce (we asked for a refill, and it's good enough to drink!) followed by the Vegan Koftas to whet palate.
For our mains, we went with the Saag and Rogan Josh. All of their mains are served with basmati rice, and a choice between plain / garlic naan or 2 poppadoms -we went with garlic naan, and it was all served hot and fresh and paired perfectly (we had already started eating before taking photos)
The atmosphere was very relaxing and Anurag's accomodating service was a warm welcome after a long day of moving homes.
The pricing is fair for the quality and quantity that you get. 2 entrees, 2 mains (+free sides) and 2 drinks for about $50 per head.
Absolutely stunning, can't wait to be back again!
**UPDATE 26/06/25 Want to add that we went again last night and it was superb! 3 different curries with complimentary rice & garlic naan for only $25ea served hot and fresh within minutes! Can't recommend this place enough for lovers of great quality...
