First and foremost, I would highly NOT RECOMMEND this place due to their utterly disgusting customer service and lack of problem solving. In terms of food, it was average. But the elderly lady at the front needs to read these google reviews and take their feedback seriously. Because there seems to be a pattern with the young boy at the front and the woman being rude to customers and not fixing problems with orders on their end. If you make a mistake, apologise, fix it and at least try to compensate with kindness for making a mistake. To the lady at the front you need to wake it up and stop being pick and choose on the days when you feel like giving good customer and you don’t. BE CONSISTENT. And to the boy, why don’t you do some problem solving and fix YOUR mistake instead of deflect and blame the customer, very immature response. You don’t have to rude if you’re in the wrong. Very poor service.
When we called in for a takeaway order, the woman who’s usually at the front reception had answered and immediately her demeanour was uninviting. My husband asked her if they make chicken Massaman, we saw on their website it was only beef but thought we’d ask just incase. She says “No, no it’s BEEF Massaman who said chicken? Beef. Beef. Beef Massaman.” So we requested beef. Every time my husband said something, she kept rushing him to finish his order. We weren’t even done ordering and she kept insisting “Are you done, is that all? Yeah okay is that all? All done??”.
We came an hour & 30 minutes before they’re closing (10pm is closing). It’s not busy, no customers. We arrive, he pays and I can see my husband having a small discussion with the lady. He says she was just explaining to him why some other Thai restaurants in the St. Heliers area close earlier than others (due to weather, how busy it gets etc.) I thought oh that’s considerate of her explaining that. So we get home, curries all there but just a minor mistake, we asked for curry puffs and they gave us the pork mince money bags. For religious and certain dietary requirements we don’t eat pork so we thought oh it should be okay, she’ll remember him from their conversation. Surely just take it back untouched and ask for a refund since it was a bit annoying.
To our surprise, they took no accountability for giving us a wrong order, kept deflecting and made the whole situation a lot more difficult than it needed to be. A simple refund or apology would have made it easier for both of us. But the excuses were “Oh sorry I don’t remember you” “Oh well how are we suppose to know your religion?” “It’s not our fault you guys came in late”. The boy had the audacity to say “Well why’d you come in a day later?” My husband came back after work @ 8-9 and they open at 5pm. If you opened earlier we would’ve been there straight away just to show good faith that we didn’t touch the food or tried to hold it off?
I didn’t know whether to laugh or get upset at this experience 😂 but DEFINITELY go support the other eatery’s next door before you spend on this business. Khana Indian food was more inviting and better quality food. 2/10...

To the hostess that was there on Friday Nov 25th, find a new job that is NOT in hospitality. There are openings at the women’s prison where your skills would be better put to use.
To be clear the food was pretty good.
But I haven’t been treated like pond scum in a while.
I went there with my six year old daughter and wife after a school event.
We were the only people eating in the restaurant. Literally no one else there. It was 5 pm. First customer of the day.
We were there to feed my daughter and my wife an I had a late lunch. We ordered the fried rice, money bags, two glasses of wine, and a ginger beer. Not the biggest bill, but $56 they were not going to get otherwise.
The woman came over to repeatedly ask us if we wanted more food and would give a grunt when we said we were not going to order more.
When I asked for a take away container since my daughter didn’t finish, instead of giving us a takeaway container right next to her, she went into the back and got a dirty broken container to give to us.
I hope saving $0.15 on a clean container was worth the negative review.
Honestly, I feel bad for this woman. She’s human and very miserable at her job. She should not be in hospitality.
I feel bad for the other staff there too. We could hear her putting the young staff down. It’s sad that the chef is putting out a good product only to have that work sabotaged by the front of the house staff.

Read moreHorrible customer service. I read the takeaway menu listed on the window outside. I walk in and the lady rudely yells at me saying "Takeaway?! Takeaway?! You read the takeaway menu outside so takeaway?!" Other customers laugh at this lady and yell "Table for two!". My husband and I look at each other in confusion. I say to the lady "What time do you close?" thinking that they might be closing soon and that might explain why she's being so impatient and wants us to order takeaway. She ignores my question and carries on to say "Takeaway!!?". My husband interrupts her and says "uhh... table for two please?". She rolls her eyes, and rushes us to a table and says "Here, table for two. Dine in menu is different price to takeaway menu and you were looking at the takeaway menu! Look at the dine in menu!". My husband and I chose the takeaway option just so we didn't have to interact with the service lady because she made us feel so uncomfortable.
I have worked in hospo for 5+ years and have never come across such terrible customer service. I am never going back there and will never recommend it to...
