Cafe At Redwoods — Restaurant in Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community

Excellent location off State Highway 10 with plenty of safe parking. As we had passed many times, we decided this July morning was time to try out Redwoods Cafe. It had a very good atmosphere with access to Garden Centre. We ordered our meals and coffee from counter and were given a number to put in the stand on our table. Coffee's came, then awhile later our meals, but not the 2 separate pieces of bacon we had ordered and paid for. When we realised, we asked one of the nice serving staff where the 2 pieces were. To which she went to kitchen and came back, "Sorry they were chopped up and added to Nachos". No offer of any re-placements, which was very disappointing, as the plan was one whole piece of bacon each. But apart from that the food...

I was so discussed with the service this afternoon, after taking my 88 year old mum to an appointment today she said that she would like something to eat so we called in, the young girl clearing the tables was lovely, we were the only one's at rhe counter my mum with her walking stick. The older lader and younger one was behind the counter talking and laughing so we ended up walking out the older lady was very nasty to us when I said we had been waiting for 5 minutes she said that we were over excagertaing,, my mum who can not stand for very long was horrified and so was I. I feel that she needs to go on a customer service course to learn how to treat customers. 4 other customers that were seated locked in shock...

This is a nice cafe with a big car park and a garden centre next to it. They have a good range of cabinet food and food to order from the menu. We ordered french toast and eggs benedict and loved it. The coffee is ok (nothing special, it seemed that the beans they use are a bit burnt). My only suggestion is that the cafe needs a deep clean. The counter looks cluttered and dirty. The table that we sat at outside had a layer of grime on it, and my teaspoon that came with the coffee was dirty.
