I recently had the pleasure of visiting Rusty Tractor Cafe in Kerikeri for lunch, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment we walked in, I knew we were in for a wonderful experience.
The chicken burger special we ordered was simply amazing! The tender chicken, flavorful toppings, and perfectly cooked patty left us craving for more. The seafood chowder was also a highlight, with a rich and creamy broth packed with a medley of fresh seafood that tantalized our taste buds.

The cozy and rustic ambiance added to the overall enjoyment of our meal. The cafe was clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable setting to relax and savor the delicious food.
Each dish was presented with impeccable attention to detail, showcasing the passion and care put into every meal. Rusty Tractor Cafe goes above and beyond to create a top-notch dining experience.
Overall, our lunch at Rusty Tractor Cafe was a true culinary adventure. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and charming ambience left us thoroughly impressed. Read moreFirst time here. I walk in, say "good morning", none of the two ladies at the counter reply. I wait till one of them finishes what she's doing and say hi again, and ask her "do you have a menu". She says a short "sure" and handles me one. I ask "do you have anything vegan"? - Her instant reaction: "Oh no no no no no"... I go - "can you make anything vegan here"? She goes "Oh no, i can't, I cannot guarantee there is no cross contamination and stuff..." at this point she is not even looking at my face anymore as if I was not there. Then I continue "oh no, that's ok, I don't mind cross contamination at all".So she interrupts me and asks very rudely - "so what do you want"? I calmly go, "do you have some sourdough bread with tomatoes maybe... " she interrupts me again and says "of course I have tomatoes, and eggs, can't you see it in the menu"?! What is wrong with some people??? What happens to respect? I walk away. Will never be back and do not recommend this place's service to anyone. I felt so disrespected and all I needed was some food continue my busy working day. I'm in town every month for work and will never give those ladies my money! Early in the morning the least you want to get from a place is a warm friendly smile and a nice attitude. This woman should never be in hospitality....
Read moreThe decor is nice, somewhat rustic feeling to go with the name, upon glancing at the menu I very nearly vacated my bowels in somewhat the same way as a V8 explodes down the Meremere Dragway. Seriously guys this is KeriKeri, not Queenstown, not SPQR on Ponsonby Road and certainly not Cafés Verlet in Paris. Where you get the gall to charge such stunningly high prices is beyond me, $16.50 for mince on toast and Benedict Eggs for $21.50. I have to say the little "w" underscore on the menu's went out with the eighties guys, "with" is three letters extra and as such your menu absolutely lacks class. I don't expect to pay Paris prices for a type faced menu, wrapped in plastic laminate that looks like its been spit out by a 1984 dot matrix printer. At least show the customer the respect we deserve. Scrogan Bag? Really - how odd, Scroggin is used by hikers, mountain bikers, mountaineers, kayakers as a trail mix often stored in zip-lock bags. $21.50? I think not. Service was adequate and functional but as such I will never be visiting this establishment again. Almost...
