100% Homemade Cafe — Restaurant in Canterbury

I've stopped here only once before and wanted to give it another go. The girl serving me was very pleasant. However, she unfortunately got my takeaway order wrong twice. They have only one toastie on the menu (ham cheese and pineapple) so I asked if i could simply swap the ham for something like onions instead since im vegetarian and stressed "cheese pineapple and onion". Got back to my car before seeing a big slab of ham in my toastie so went back in and the girl explained and apologised but she thought I wanted onions instead of pineapple (not sure how ham and vegetarian didn't register but no worries, easily fixed, right?). I thought I'd got it corrected (and repeated "cheese pineapple and onions, no meat") but this time received a dried out cheese toastie with uncooked onions but no pineapple (admittedly no ham this time so points for that!). Had already driven off otherwise would have tried 3rd time lucky .... Worse things happen at sea for sure but at $7.20 can't say I will be rushing back if a simple vegetarian toastie is beyond capability. Pleasant environment and nice adjacent shop and very pleasant...

Overpriced food for small portions. Hardly any selection of hot food in pie warmer and what was there were 2 pies and very dry hard/tiny cheese rolls and dry/hard tiny bread baskets which I foolishly purchased. They were overpriced too and I only ate the desert spoon of filling and left the hard breadcase. Was 12.15pm and I wondered why only a few people were there. Called in to have a light lunch today,great coffee but the soup which was tomato and pepper was greeny/yellow colour and tasteless. Not the red colour I was expecting for the princely price I paid for it. I returned it to the counter and said this is nice at all. Recieved no response from staff member.Not good customer service .Also then realised the the person who was working in the kitchen had long hair with no head covering.Not exactly hygienic. Such a shame feeling quite ripped off....
