Me, my daughter, and a good friend went to Indian Hut in Oxford tonight for dinner, and it was a really nice meal. We started with the Non-Veg Platter (NZD $28.50), which had a mix of meat bites that were tasty and good for sharing. For mains, we tried three curries with different spice levels. The Methi Chicken (NZD $25.50) was mild, creamy, and fragrant with fenugreek. The Butter Chicken (NZD $25) had a mild to medium spice, smooth sauce, and was very comforting. The Lamb Kali Mirch (NZD $26.50) was cooked hot and spicy with black pepper, rich and bold in flavour. However, it is not spicy enough for me 😅. The Cheese & Garlic Naan (NZD $8.50) was soft, cheesy, and perfect for dipping in the curries.
For drinks, my friend and I enjoyed two Kingfisher beers (NZD $17) and three Asahi beers (NZD $24), which went well with the spicy dishes. My daughter had a sweet Mango Lassi (NZD $6.50) and a colourful Citrus Sunset mocktail (NZD $9).
The service was warm and friendly, and the food came out at a good pace. It was a cosy night with good company and hearty Indian food that left us...
Read moreHad the takeaway tikka nan at lunch (only $10 each) they were amazing! Very filling, perfect for lunch. The chicken tasted so good and the mint sauce that came with it on the side was also amazing. Deffo going to have one of these again! We also booked for my partners birthday which we are very much looking forward to after the great lunch! It might not seem open at lunch though as the door was closed, but we rang and they were still there reading for the lunch takeaways
Edit- we visited again for an evening meal and it was fantastic. We felt so much looked after. The curries were so authentic tasting, we had the mixed platter starter - the chicken was incredible! Every part of the meal was great and we spoke to the owner for a long time about different dishes and he was lovely. He told me that the chef makes his own paneer - so I would recommend getting that! We can’t wait to come back again, best Indian we’ve had in New Zealand! (Also recommend the berry bliss mocktail) thank you for such a fantastic meal...
Read moreWandered into this restaurant on a Saturday night. There was only one other table occupied (more on that later) so we weren’t quite sure, but the reviews were great. We were promptly seated and served. We ordered lamb saagwala, aloo gobi matter, jeera and peas pulao rice and some naan. This honestly was some of the BEST Indian food I can remember eating. The spices were perfect, the sauce in the saagwala was spectacular, and the vegetables were on point. We devoured everything in front of us! The owner himself ensured that we enjoyed our meal and was attentive and available. I HIGHLY recommend stopping here or going out of your way for some amazing food. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars on ‘atmosphere’ had nothing to do with the restaurant itself but was due to a couple with their 1yr old child. This child wailed with a piercing screech throughout our meal. Not the fault of the restaurant and unfortunate that they were the ONLY other people in...
