I'll give credit where credit is due and give the positives before the negative feedback.

Pies were delicious, super tasty!

Ordered the Spicy Mexican, what a ripper of a choice it ticked alp the boxes. Also grabbed a steak and cheese and it was more like a mince and cheese, absolutely no chunks of meat whatsoever, but still tasty. Chocolate and caramel slice was excellent, so was the velvet cup cake. Price was pretty good for the quality of food.

Now the not so great..

Service was awful, the ability to listen and follow through with our order was a great task for all 3 that served us, it was painful.

Asked for my flat white coffee to take away only to be handed a flat white and long black in cups? When I questioned who the long black was for the lady said "I'm just going to leave this here" and swiftly walked off, not even giving us time to make sense of what was happening.

We then returned this cup to the counter and said it wasn't ours and it was taken off of us and delivered to another table, when I mentioned my flat white wasn't in a take away cup I got several blank stares and no real response, not even an apology for mucking us about considering I have two tasty pies going cold while helping out the staff...

A few more minutes go past and I bring the cupped flat white up and mention it again and the lady said, just wait your ones coming.

Apparently my telepathy isn't working today or possibly the lack of communication caught me off guard as simply telling me earlier could have been nice, or even a friendly sorry.

Coffee arrived on the table without even a word to us.

Great food, terrible service.

I think the youngest worker who hopped on the till afterwards was a lot more empathetic towards customers, and definitely a lot more polite,...

Visited here for Brunch! Everyone sampled a different breakfast! Bacon and egg pie, Vegetarian slice and Breakfast slice! Regretted not having mine heated! Coffee was excellent with plenty of additional hot water! Excellent creamed Lammington. Service was excellent

Visited today 06 March 24, maybe I and my companions speak a foreign language, the front of house assistant at the counter had to be told 9 times (3 times per person) whether we wanted heated or cold savouries! No smile! Returning to the counter for other items I encountered another similar stone faced assistant!

Additionally the prep kitchen could be observed from our seats! Someone preparing club sandwiches, bread, maybe egg mayo, cheese, ham! Very nice except the person preparing them had very long sleeves on and repeatedly kept touch her face then the sandwiches! Hygiene? No gloves or handwashing!

Departing the shop, no thanks and call again! The shop front was empty! Not what I’ve become accustomed to in other bakery outlets in New Zealand. I’ve...

We are regular locals & normally enjoy our visits here but the last 2 have not been so great. Just yesterday, while ordering the cashier was happily chatting to another customer (obviously someone she knew) then she turned to us with a sour look on her face served us like we were doing her a disfavour by being there, we went & sat to eat & wait on our coffees, we ate very slowly chatting & still our coffee hadn't arrived & we watched as people who sat down after us received their orders & so I politely asked a server the next time they came out, we got a frosty they'll be here, we are very busy (which they weren't really)& some lame excuse we'd asked for them to come out after we had eaten, which we had not. It was another 5-10 minutes before we finally got our coffee which was luke warm (like they been sitting for a while). Not sure I'll be wasting my very valuable time & $$ going back again, when there are plenty of other...

Highly spoken of by locals a very popular place to buy pies. When I visited on a Sunday lunchtime there was one vegetarian pie left, and one vegetarian pie option in the range, just as well I wasn't visiting with a vegetarian friend. The pie was good and reasonably priced. The place was heaving and service was OK. Given this establishment is in a small town the cafe feels crowded and busy so it was difficult to get a good look at the cabinet before ordering. It would be great to expand non meat options for pies and consider vegan options. I didn't have any sweet items but they looked great. Meat eaters would definitely leave a 5 star review.

I had the fortune of sampling the beef brisket and cheese pie and in my opinion it was better than a fairlie pie and that's very high praise. The pastry was crisp with cheese on the outside and it was chock full of tender brisket meat with a proper amount of cheese inside. Delicious and well worth the stop when passing through Oxford. Also I enjoyed the cheese roll I had with it.
