Armadillos Halswell — Restaurant in Christchurch

My family member had booked us a table at Armadillo's this evening at 4pm. Booking was quick and over the phone for two people: myself & family member. We came to the restaurant early, to secure a parking then headed straight in and met by a lively lady who showed us to out table for two. And accessible for my family member. It was a warm welcoming atmosphere. You could tell immediately that it was a place where everyone was friendly; family orientated and the vibe was easy going. The lady who took care of us gave us our menus and prepared our drinks while giving us time to order. I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel with Salad, Mushroom Sauce & Salad. My family member order the Chicken Bacon dish and was kindly made aware that it may be a wait as it's quite timely to cook. We were okay about that because we were the to socialize - be out and about. The menu was straightforward for the dinner menu with good prices. Our food come about 15 - 20mins later after ordering. My Schnitzel was easy to cut through, my Chicken was moist - cooked through. My salad was fresh with a good amount of dressing. Chips were fresh and crunchy. Mushroom sauce was perfect amount. My food was a good amount for me 😊 My family members dish looked yummy, the only thing was is that she had to secure underneath her plate. So it wouldn't move a lot. I believe it was because the bacon was hard to cut through - a sharp serrated knife would've absolutely been a better choice to cut with. We will ask for a serrated knife next time. She enjoyed her meal. We ended up taking a doggy bag home for the Chicken and Bacon dish. Dessert was out of the question & I blame the Chef because the food was absolutely good 💯❣️ Left full tummy, goof parking, accommodated to for access for setting, checked on a good amount of times to see if we needed anything, food was a good quantity & quality. Great atmosphere and was told about events and deals on different days. Left...

My friends and I came into armadillos this evening for dinner, we have heard great things about this place from friends. Unfortunately we had pretty bad service from one of the girls (short braided dark brown hair) she was too busy having a conversation in the kitchen then serving customers and being on her phone. While we were awaiting service from her, the other girl (short girl with light brown hair) was busy and looked to be picking up the slack from the other staff member. Once she got to our table she was rude and didn’t seem impressed that we had come in. When she finally took our drink order, she interrupted my friend and then started getting snappy. At this time we wanted to pay for our drinks and leave but we really wanted to try the food, we had another girl bring us our food and she however was lovely, she was attentive and asked if we needed anything else. The chicken burger was huge but really good, the ribs were juicy and the chilli cheese bread was amazing and tasted super fresh. We would love to come back but the service from this girl makes...

I have been to this restaurant to many times to count and tonight was the worst it has ever been, had to wait a very long time for the girl to take our order (could see she really didn't want to be there) once order was taken it took more then 30 mins for garlic bread to come out and the place wasn't even busy in fact we were the only table in there without food the other 2 tables had finished there's. 2 Kids meals came out and had maybe 10 chips if that in the baskets, 2 rumps had been ordered and were very under cooked to how we had asked for them. Once getting up to pay the 2 girls that were at the counter looked at me and walked away to the bar to the guy that was there and probably told him that he had to come deal with us. We never got asked if we wanted any desserts and no dishes got cleared away for us to even want to stay any longer. Sad to say that I don't think I will be back to this restaurant again and maybe management need to train their staff to be a little bit...
