The other day I had a bit of a closer look @ the Halswell domain as I was waiting for a car-park @ the from of the library & what I could was quite interesting. The domain has a couple of sports assoc buildings & a couple of decent sized sports fields & there is plenty of room for the families to park & watch their favourite teams & family members playing 🏃. Towards the front the swimming pool is found 🤽 & many a child is found here in the summer months looked over not only by their parents but also the 'lifesavers' who are employed @ all swimming pools in Christchurch. From what I've heard they do a really good job. For those who like a book or who like to get away from the screams & noises of people having fun there is the library. Heaps of computers, books, chairs, librarians, need I say more 😊. Between the library & the pool is a wee cafe with the usual fare coffee, tea n cakes & this is well patronised plus I see a small deep freeze has been added no doubt for all the ice-creams 🍦needed over summer. Finally there is another area that is also extremely interesting. This is the small cemetery found on a driver's left hand side as they enter the domain north of the library. Now I'm not entirely sure if you can access the graves from the domain or if you have to go via the church just up the road. Far from being morbid cemeteries are a great place to learn the history of your town or suburb plus you can use the writings on the headstones to find out about people & not necessarily your family but about those who settled the area & who came before you. So that's Halswell Domain through my eyes & I'm sure I've missed some stuff so go along & have a really good time, enjoy yourself & perhaps you will go away with more ideas than what you...
Read moreTrain rides for kiddies was great value, they absolutely loved it. The staff and train drivers are friendly, skilled and well organised. even though there was alot of others and what initially appeared to be a big line it wasn't.. There are so many trains operating and a well calculated route to give everyone a go. Highly recommended taking the kids. We had a 2 year old and 3 year old but I can imagine it being fun for any age as there were smiles on faces from many different generations. We will definitely be going again and will allow longer (1hr or more) as we were a bit rushed this time due to other commitments but our 20mins- 1/2 hour was still...
