Bailies Bar — Restaurant in Christchurch

Had a bad meal first time we visited but thought we would be fair and try again. BLOODY AWFUL. I ordered the Calamari with capers. The capers were fried burnt hard and inedible. The Calamari was not the round rings but the thick curled type. So tough the knife would not even cut through it. I tried a bit and it was so hard and salty I could not believe any restaurant would serve up such a terrible meal. When the server came and asked 'how was it' I said I could not eat my meal as the Calamari was tough. Her response 'oh sorry about that' and walked away. She needs to be trained to satisfy the customer not ignore them. Won't bother giving them...

The meal was quite nice however there was some confusion over what was ordered. We ordered a bbq beef burger. However when it came it didn't have onion rings or bacon as stated on the menu. We enquired about this and we were told that because we asked for a beef burger we were given a cheese burger. As that is what it is on there screen but not on there menu. They give us 10% off of our bill because of the misunderstanding. Magnars on tap!!!! A very safe feeling place to have a meal and a few pints, especially when I was on my own the few times I went and over indulged with the Magnars tap. Wednesday is a special on steak meals, and they do not disappoint. I very much like this bar and the owner even came and had a chat with me, when he noticed my Bulmers jumper I was wearing. The owner is a nice guy and there is a lady there everytime, I think she's the bar manager, and she is a primo lady. I can't wait till I hit that Magnars tap again!!!! If only they had a...
