Thai Container — Restaurant in Christchurch

Last time I went here they forgot one of the items in our order. This is a understandable mistake so I rang for a refund of this item (I was no longer nearby to get it replaced).

The staff at the store cannot do refunds on site, only a store credit or they will replace the missed item (which is of no use when you've just driven across town to have dinner with family). This was not acceptable to me so I asked for a refund, they said a manager would call back 2 days later.

2 Days later, no call, so I followed up and again, they had let the manager know but the managed hadn't made contact, they promised to remind them and I should receive a call back tomorrow.

Still no call back the next day, currently I am waiting for staff to escalate this to someone higher up.

Frankly this is not good enough, the staff on site should be able to refund in this situation, currently Thai Container has charged me for a item that they did not deliver on and seem very reluctant to return that money to me. A mistake is fine, so long as you don't make that the customers problem!

First off this is not authentic Thai food, those who said it’s their first time trying Thai or that it’s the best Thai they have ever had, I’m sorry for you. That being said, it is alright kiwi Thai l. I ate here twice, the first time I had red curry with chicken. The flavor was pretty good but there was peas and green beans in the curry which is unusual. I felt like they just took a bag of frozen mixed vegetables and added them to my curry. Second time I had the shrimp fresh rolls and BBQ beef salad. The fresh rolls were good but had no Thai basil inside, although they did have mint which was nice. The sauce was more a vinegar based sauce with chunks of peanuts added vs. traditional peanut sauce. The beef salad was the best thing I had but the portion didn’t seem huge like others have said. Not sure why they call it “bbq beef” as it didn’t taste as if the beef had been grilled and for most this would imply bbq flavor was added, which it is not as it was more traditional Thai style in a spicy vinegar sauce with celery...

UPDATE AUG.15-2022 - AWFULL - Two years ago before Covid the place was a reasonable choice for a quick and nice meal. I was a great fan of the place and regularity picked up my take away twice a week. BUT for some strange reasons I cannot understand, they have decided to kill the golden egg goose and the food has become REALLY AWFULL and pricey compared to other places. My last order put an end to me going back there EVER. I ordered a fried rice with prawns and it came with 2 and half prawns, some veggies and rice all bathing in a disgusting sauce. Gave a call to the place to complain about the dish and my extreme disappointment with how the food has gone REALLY BAD in the last 6 months. I don’t think the girl on the phone got the message. If you want a nice Asian dish as a take away or to eat at the restaurant go to the China Kitchen on Papanui road or Nom Nom Kitchen Strowan on Normans Road.
