Affogato Cafe — Restaurant in Christchurch

We went for a brunch today. We ordered Salmon Smash and lemon&ginger tea&mochachino. It was bright and cozy inside but we decided to sit outside as the weather was good. Despite its on the side of busy main roads, the vibe outside was surprisingly relaxing and pleasant. The chair was a bit wobbly but still ok. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food came out fairly quickly and they were presented very nicely. The eggs were cooked perfectly & I loved it came with green salad. The dish was overall a tiny bit salty to my liking but it was still very delicious. I loved how they cooked the potatoes especially. The dish was similar to egg Benedict but more comforting and soft for stomach. We also got a side of mushroom and asked for some relish. Very positive first experience!

We have been wanting to visit Affogato Cafe for a while now - we made it on Saturday 4 May 2024 finally.

Excellent location, welcoming atmosphere, good street views, good food and friendly service- all combined to provide us with a wonderful first experience.

We had the Avo Smash. They agreed to substitute the poached egg with fried egg. The wait time was reasonable; when the food arrived - it looked very appealing.

The portion size was good and the food was tasty and satisfying.

We will be happy to come again.

We used a GrabOne voucher- $15 for $30 value which made the experience economical too. 2 satisfying meals for a total spend of $30!

I hope they put up more vegetarian options on their menu, although the vegetarian meal we had was perfect. The toasted nuts they used in the dish...

The stuff was lovely and the interior design is very cozy, but clearly they were understaffed just like everybody else. We arrived at 9:20 on a Monday and only got our first coffee 25 mins later. Unfortunately, they gave me a wrong coffee so I had to wait a bit more. I asked for the salmon smash as it is highly recommended and the food only came at 10:00. I asked for the egg to be well cooked because I can't have raw eggs but it still came undercooked in the middle. The salmon smash was rather bland. The ventilation wasn't great and we had to wait for so long for our food so at the end of the dining experience we walked out with a heavy cooking smoke smell which lingered around the whole day, quite unpleasant.
