Fragrant and scrumptious! We asked for a meant&veg sharing platter for three and were blown away by the food. Do ask for extra injera bread when you order - although we were all stuffed by the end so extra is pure gluttony. I think it came to 35$ each? More than worth it for amount of food. Let alone that it was delicious!
The chicken pulled off the bones with the lightest touch; the chickpea (shiro?) was smooth and creamy; the goat was hearty; the lamb tender; one lentil dish was lemony and refreshing; the other was comforting and spiced; the spinach had a tang that cut the richness of the other dishes and I think that is all? Oh, there was a second lamb, and a cabbage!
Habesha is a place I am going to visit again and take all my friends to. It's a must visit for everyone and an easy place to try this cuisine if you're a first timer. Don't be afraid to ask for...
Read moreEthiopian food, in my opinion, is sadly undiscovered. I first had Ethiopian in the uk over 30 years ago and really enjoyed it, as it’s such a different fun and social way to eat. I vaguely remembered hearing that chch had an Ethiopian restaurant, so decided to to convince my family to give it a whirl. Pulse is not what you expect from what looks like a coffee shop in an industrial estate, but I can honestly say that the service was excellent. However the service was very much second to the most excellent Ethiopian food I have ever had the pleasure to taste. We went hot, and the spice mix for us was perfect, and so tasty. The best thing for me is that all the orders are placed on the injera, so you have the fun of sharing all the different orders. Thank you, and blessings on your cafe. If we were local, we would...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic! The owner was the nicest guy ever and loved to chat with us about the food and coffee ceremony. The beans are roasted on the spot and the coffee by itself is sweet and delicious. This is a hidden gem that looks like just an industrial cafe, but behind that facade is a great Ethiopian/Eritrean experience. If it hadn't been for the glowing Press review, I probably wouldn't have ever come across it. Will be bringing friends and family to try it soon. Hopefully more people will discover it and the owner can then afford to add to the decorations. My wife had an Ethiopean flatmate years ago in Melbourne and we had loved the food she made. This brought it all back. Highly...
