1 May 2019 - they changed their name to "Old Street" and slightly updated the interior decor. The menu has been updated and there are [now] more dishes to choose.
16 Dec 2018 - I have been here many times since it opened about 10 years ago. It is the closest thing to real Malaysia street food.
There are rice and noodle dishes, spicy and non-spicy, I usually either have hainanese chicken rice, char kuey teow, char bee hon, or hot & sour pork leg (with rice). But today I decided to order lor mee as I never had it before.
The gravy is thick and slimy, similar look to hot and sour soup. It contains a mixture of egg noodles with a bit of vermicelli, pork and chicken pieces + half a boiled egg. I do recommend to add a bit of vinegar as it will definitely bring out the flavor. The five-spice powder that they used were not overpowering.
This is a non licensed eatery and you can't order any alcoholic drinks 🍻🍸🍷🍾🍹🍺. However, this is a BYO and you can bring your own wines. There is no outdoor area and smoking 🚬 is [definitely] not inside the building.
Street parking 🅿 only.
They accept cash and EFTPOS payments (there is no Paywave), for those who want to know. There is no credit card facility.
Friendly staff.
Would I go back? Yes 😏 Would I recommend? Yes 😊. If you want to know how Malaysian food taste like.
Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Can't go wrong with Malaysian street dishes from this eatery. Tasty and delicious 😋. Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Nice interior deco. Great atmosphere. Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Very affordable compared to other eateries. For a family of four, it costs just over NZD $40 for the food (excluding soft drinks).
Definitely a good place to have a quick feed. Authentic Malaysian food, excellent taste, and cosy atmosphere. Very affordable prices for family.

Read moreI appreciated warm, welcoming and inclusive from your grantparents. The famous Fu Son family who were kind and hard working. They trusted me enough to deliver their prescription for them at the pharmacy I worked at. Nana helped to check if the car park was alright to use- she even came out of the store, the spirit and the smile are something I never forget. I wish them well. Thank you for trying to do well and like I said to Floor manager who is extremely efficient and capable of managing 10 workers' workload- your service are highly appreciated. It is hard not take pros and cons for such rapid and quick service from an ambitious management like you. More I dine in/take away, less worthy of myself I feel. You can not ask for perfection but can switch to the Good...
Read moreWe are Malaysians and find the food here amazing (perhaps even better than the ones in Malaysia) and well priced. Portions are great and will get you full. Incredibly efficient...food comes out within 10 minutes...piping hot and full of flavour. Complimentary hot tea available too whereas this would be charged extra in other restaurants. Parking is available in front of the shops or in the housing area nearby. Tip: get here before 12pm to avoid the big lunch crowds, as the place does fill up quickly. Note they take NZ eftpos and cash but not foreign cards. Recommend the prawn noodles which has the richest broth...perfect for a cold day. You can customize your noodles too by asking for specific kinds (flat noodles,...
