Asked to Leave early My friends and I were looking for somewhere to watch the Australia V England world cup soccer match so I rang ahead early in the day to see if the Brickworks would be showing the game and staying open late, given the late kick off at 10pm NZ time. I was assured they would be, as was my friend who also rang later in the day to ask the same question. When we arrived at the pub at 21:30 and ordered drinks and food we were informed by the bar staff that they might be closing early. I mentioned the fact they had confirmed on two occasions earlier that day that they would be staying open for the game, but I got a vague reply around not having enough customers to cover the cost of the having staff on at that stage. At that point there was about 10 customers in the pub which reduced to 5 of us about 15 minutes into the game at which point we were told the pub was closing in 20 minutes. I guess my point is (1) don't say you're going to be open for the match and then turn around when paying customers turn up saying you are going to close (2) Adhere to your trading hours listed on the door if you have even one customer in the bar (it says 11pm on the door and on google) and (3) don't start cleaning up around the customer as they try to enjoy their pint, it kills the atmosphere an reinforces the notion you want them to hurry up and leave !! A bit of customer service goes a long way and the Brickworks would pay well to...
Read moreHonestly we have been regular customers despite the REGULAR coldness and ignorance from the 'head' of the establishment.
We have again and again decided to be willing patrons, every time we are disappointed, not by the product, but the service of one 'matriricial' service person.
Tonight we were greeted by a sign being slapped on the counter to establish that the establishment was full, when we couldn't understand that, we were agressively slapped again with the sign on the counter. We simply asked if we could register for a table. I feel this is seriously bad service. No words or real hospitality involved. I believe the owners try hard to bring a great service with their three venues. But I do think they need to look at their staff, who are their face.
We've tried and tired again despite the rudeness and have been back. We won't be any longer. In a world when we need to embrace our local community, it's very sad.
No need to name and shame. I'm sure we're not the only ones to experience such delightful service.
Normally I couldn't be bothered to mention bad service, everyone has their day off, and that's cool, but this has become so consistent I feel it...
Read moreWe would not recommend The Brickworks. We stopped by for lunch together and I was disappointed that my steak was well done rather than medium rare that I had ordered. They did offer to cook me another but we were on limited time to make it to school pick up. At $32 it was unfortunately inedible and I ate the small handful of vegies around it in order to try and enjoy a relaxing meal together. My Husband then lifted his fish to find a thick hair on his chips. We informed the staff again and told them we were leaving (with 3/4 of both lunches unfinished) The best they said they could offer was a 25% discount. To be honest, we were so incredibly disappointed that we couldn't get out of there fast enough but left hungry....and $50 down the drain. Unfortunately not only was the food a disaster but because of how they chose to deal with it means we will not...
