Protocol — Restaurant in Christchurch

So disappointed! I booked early in the week for 16 of us at 6pm on Saturday night, as we had 4 special birthdays to celebrate. 2 couldnt make it, so there were only 14 of us. We were all seated before 6, went to bar to order drinks,( half our table already had theirs, so was 5 of us) to be told by waitress go to table she will come to us. Waited 15 minutes, then she mucked up the order. They took our order for meals, and it was quite a wait, maybe 45 mins, but the kids x3 meals came out ( pizzas, and chicken nuggets etc) and 2 of the adult pizzas. The rest of us waited for over an hour after that for our meals, which came out terribly staggered only after going up to ask where the rest of our food was. I had ordered the pork belly bites and a side of vegetables, the Veg came, and I waited another 10 minutes for my pork belly. Then I asked if the 2 bowls of fries we had ordered were coming...the poor waiter who looked as though he was in charge said he would get them cooking now, but there will be no charge. Then he informed us they had 2 staff call in sick so they were struggling. We then also got 3 free sundaes from him which was much appreciated however when you spend nearly $600 for meals out you expect better than this! A simple phone call would have been nice,we could have chosen to go elsewhere. We will never be back. I did however feel pretty sorry for the French guy who was obviously the rectifier of all the cockups. I hope he...

When you look at this restaurant it's location you will expect a lot from it. You would expect an welcoming and keen waitres at the doorstep of such an high profile restaurant. But unfortunatly the opposite is true. Although I can tell the menu has improved and the food is in average good the servive was the worst I ever experienced in an restaurant and it totally ruined my night. I found it very insulting not to even be served.

I HAVE DINED ALL OVER THE WORLD AND THIS IS THE FIRST RESTAURANT I THEY DIDN'T WANT TO SERVE ME !! Yes that's right ! In a full restaurant nobody came to take our orders and I couldn't even find an menu at the place. They told us at 9.pm to see if the kitchen was open while they were serving out food to everybody while we sat there but for some reason they did not want to serve us !! So we left with an empty stomach and although their food looked look I was to upset with the unfriendly and lowsy service i just wanted to LEAVE !! NO WE WILL NEVER RETURN AND WARN ALL tourists on a forum not to go there. unless ..some more keen teenagers...

Went to protocol late on a Saturday night after a long tiring event in west melton desperately in need of a good feed and they did not disappoint!! 10/10 Full house welcomed us with open hours at 10pm and served the most delicious margarita, pepperoni pizzas, most mouth watering buttermilk chicken and fries and an incredible gingerbread latte mocktail I begged the lovely mixologist for (have been bragging to all my friends since we got home I’m going to try to attempt a recreation of it with 1/10th of the skills of the mixologist. The full staff were so welcoming and accomodating and went above and beyond for an amazing and memorable night. They were busy managing a couple of Christmas parties, restaurant and bar customers and still managed to deliver amazing service to each and every customer (from our observations) we just had to leave an amazing review! Thank you so much team we have to come back! Checking the menu again now and dying to try the beef wellingtons! Absolutely...
