If I pay $14 for a sandwich, I do expect that I will be getting something far superior to what I could make for myself at home for a small fraction of that price. I understand that the price of admission includes the beautiful waterside setting, but even so, I personally would rather CRISP my own bacon (a request that I made, but which was not accomplished) at home, and throw it onto some toast with cheese and jarred jalapeños before enjoying a coffee at the waterside. I don’t think making a complaint or sending the sandwich back would have changed the fundamental nature of the sandwich. In any event, subpar sandwiches aren’t the end of the world, and luckily neither is $14, but these were just the thoughts going through my head as I gazed out onto the water.

P.S. I didn’t order a coffee but they did...

The quality of the coffee was only matched by the expertise of the manager in finding fault with the customer. Apparently we stood in the wrong place while waiting for our take-out coffee. We were asked what we were doing and I told them man I was waiting for the coffee I ordered 'some time ago'. He then read the ticket, misread the clock and grumpily told me he was going as fast as he could. He was! However, his workflow is so badly organised that he will always be stressed and that's up to him. What is unacceptable is to project it onto innocent customers and try to spoil their day. SERIOUS ADVICE (If you ever read these reviews) - get someone who knows how to run a coffee shop efficiently - Its a great location and should...

Lovely view, that's about it unfortunately. Ordered a sausage roll, carrot cake, coffee. Was given the cake straight away as was told otherwise the person would forget. Our coffee was brought which was incredibly strong (and I quite like strong coffee). Waited for the sausage roll. After 20 minutes, cold coffee and having eaten the cake (which was nice but the frosting was a bit odd), asked about the sausage roll to be told 5 minutes. 5 minutes later the sausage roll arrived. Raw pastry around some lovely sausage meat. Couldn't be bothered to mention this as it was already apparent the staff didn't care. There is a notice on the door saying wait times are long and don't expect food and drink at...

At this slice of heaven, we sat in the sun and had the best customer experience we've had in yonks. Anywhere. Paul looked after us so beautifully. A warm, convivial manner, genuine hospitality go a long way. The special Prima jalapeno bacon sandwich was our favourite, followed by a gorgeous lemon cake. Extremely lovely latte, served with vintage spoons. Of course the view pulled the whole thing together. We'd been recommended another spot that was shut, but it was our lucky day. Thank you so much Paul for making our day - we'd got stranded after our flight was cancelled but you made it so relaxing, we will be back on all our trips to Cromwell.

We absolutely love this place!! We have been living in Cromwell for 4 months and this was our go to cafe! You have all you need there, good coffee and lovely views. It is in the old part of the city so you can also grab a nice take away and just have a walk around the old buildings or just take a seat outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The staff is also very nice. From the food we especially enjoyed some sweet treats like brownie ☕️ it can get a little crowded on Sunday morning during the Farmer’s Market that’s happening nearby but it’s still alright. Definitely recommend!! I think its worth the visit.

Stopped here after three when had a late drive back from Queenstown and no lunch. Staff very pleasant. Counter food only at that time but I had the kiwi breakfast pie which was really yummy. Topped with a hash brown filled with a mini Dave lot egg baked beans. My sister had the filed croissant which was freshly made ham off the bone and cheese. Our coffees were excellent and the cafe lovely.
