Pinot Junction -Lakeside Cafe — Restaurant in Cromwell Community

Best breakfast I’ve had around the world! We accidentally found this place after an unplanned stop at Cromwell. Beautifully situated, small cozy place with outdoor sitting where we enjoyed the autumn weather and lake views. We ordered granola with yoghurt, avocado ricotta/feta mash, toast with ham, coffee and a banana smoothie. All super healthy and filled with flavour to the last mouthful. Our only regret is that we had to continue with our road trip so we didn’t get to try the brunch and dinner menu! Ridiculously good! Stopped off on our trip through Central Otago for a cheese scone and cuppa. Gorgeous day sitting outside with a view over the water. Friendly welcome and prompt service. Drinks were fine but sadly the generous scones we ordered were dry and instead of a savoury cheese flavour tasted of the cinnamon scrolls/muffins? they sat next to in the cabinet. My last meal of NZ so I was already used to the overpriced average quality food NZ had to offer but this place took the piss. $30 for a small cheese pizza with some prosciutto and spinach sprinkled on top. $12 for a tiny flavourless smoothie. Should have known it would be garbage seeing as all the other customers were geriatrics. You don't need to serve decent food when the local customers don't know any better. Never felt so ripped off in my life. Cannot understand the high rating I'd give this place a -5...
