William Souter Espresso — Restaurant in Devonport-Takapuna

Went to this place this morning. Great coffee and nice peach & coconut cake. After deciding that we needed a bit more to eat, when the waitress came over with our coffee we ordered a ham & cheese toated roll. We approached the counter and paid for this...after already paying for or first order of 2 coffees and cake. After finishing and going to leave the man at the counter said loudly that we had not paid for the roll...which of course we had. He checked with the waitress..who said no we had not paid!! I ended up showing him the 2 bank transactions which proved payment becoz he obviously did not remember us!! Very poor not to remember your customers who paid and sat opposite the serving counter for 30 minutes. Noted also that food was on show without suitable covering..right at the counter..people breathing coughing and talking over it. Won't be back and neither will any of...

This Auckland spot is hands down the ultimate breakfast and coffee place!! I live in the north shore and come here often. This is not only because of the amazing coffee that I get every time without fail, but also because of the amazing atmosphere. I also would like to acknowledge the service, especially the barista who's not only a master at making my iced coffee just the way I like it but also the friendliest person around. Espresso short black was on the below average side. Worst beans I've tried and had no flavour. Iced mocha tasted weird but it wasn't too bad. Tried the chocolate caramel cake.. was basically fudge brownie with no caramel so maybe it was wrong item. Was waiting to taste the caramel until i realised it was either a different product or the wrong label on the cake? Green tea matcha cheesecake was good. Service was nice and fast. Only 3 stars for the food and drinks - likely...
