Absolutely shocked and really upset by the service I received last week after being served ham. (I'm reposting this review as it was removed when I posted it last week)

TLDR: I was served the wrong sandwich, which had meat I don't eat in it (and haven't for 16 years). I initially didn't notice, and when my family and I addressed it with a staff member, we were met with sarcasm and mockery before a hostile apology.

I, my dad, and sister visited (at my recommendation) at 10am before an event, and it was quite quiet. I ordered the vegetarian (cheese and onion) toastie. It took over 10 minutes to come out, and I was starving so started eating. I realised after eating part of it that it was the HAM toastie. My dad went in and told them that they they'd served me the wrong food, that I was vegetarian, and they'd given me ham. He (mistakenly) said I'd ordered the chicken toastie, then corrected himself to say the cheese and onion toastie. Instead of apologising, the waiter questioned my dad on why I'd ordered the chicken toastie if I'm vegetarian. For the record (not that it should matter), I eat chicken and seafood for health reasons, but I haven't eaten red meat or pork for 16 years and was really upset about being served ham. My dad said I was vegetarian for the sake of simplicity because he couldn't be bothered explaining my whole dietary requirements/my morals and reasoning, and it honestly shouldn't have mattered, anyway. Dietary requirements are very serious, and should be treated as such in places that serve food. There are many reasons for them, including health, morals, and religion.

There was no apology, and when my dad called him on this, he said he'd apologise when he brought the new toastie out. We went to the counter to collect the correct toastie. The server sarcastically said to me "I'm vegetarian, I didn't know we can eat meat now?!" and proceeded to question me on my dietary choices until my sister pointed out that my dietary preferences were not up for discussion and they had clearly served me the wrong food at which point we received a very hostile apology.

I understand mistakes happen, and although I was upset at unknowingly eating ham. Look, I worked in the service industry for 4 years. I get it. I know café staff are people, and understand sometimes waiters are having a bad day and miscommunications happen. But there's no excuse for rude, sarcastic, and hostile way he spoke to me and my family. They made a pretty serious mistake, and when we addressed it directly with them, recieved a really...

New owners and we arrived yesterday 11.30 not busy 3 adults 3 children and we had plenty to choose from. My husband always at a new place goes with a big breakfast it usually gives us a good guide to how they fair , and was not disappointed wow portions size was amazing 2 well sized kumara rosti, 2 slices sourdough 2 eggs bacon good helping, sausage homemade beans, mushrooms, tomato it was amazing value I'm thinking it was $26 , infact 3 of us had the big brekie, I had eggs Bennie on rosti with bacon huge portion of bacon and I did have salmon as that had to be a side order did find that odd as I didn't want bacon but they didn't swop I had to pay for the salmon as extra so I had bacon as well. I'm usually very fussy with the hollandaise but I didn't even ask this time actually forgot and I was not disappointed.. we had a chat with the owner and chief to give them some feed back, which was good.. Excellent value for money and really good quality which is rare to find these days well done guys we will be back . Staff were pleasant too & coffee good thanks for a...

Stopped here for just a coffee (which was good), on a cold & wet day, however the Danishes looked good so we were tempted to have a Plum Danish, and a Blueberry Danish, (both of which were excellent). Cafe was full (which was a good sign) and only table free was close to the door, meaning a cold draft every time someone came in or left. Person at a table beside us mentioned to the waitress the she was cold & had sent her husband out to get her puffer jacket, & waitress responded by saying she'd go & turn on the heating, which helped a lot and quickly warmed the place up again. Looks like there is a nice outside seating area for during the...

Lovely Cafe on SH2 coming into Featherston. Can park on the side street if no room on the main drag and walk for 2 mins. Clean and nice atmosphere/decor. Friendly service and they were great with the kids too when my 7yo wanted to order by himself at the counter etc. Got the eggs bene which was delish, the hollandaise wasn't what I'd call a traditional one, possibly had pesto/herbs or something in it? But it was tasty! Big breakfast was also good. Reasonabley priced, some cabinet options too. Coffee was great. Only gave 4/5 because there's always room to grow! Will be back.

This cafe appeared to be the only decent cafe on the main street. Cute old building and quite cosy inside. It was very busy. Staff were friendly and at least warned us about the delay in getting food. Limited menu. Coffee was good. Only able to get table outside. The bench tables were very old and wonky. Could do with an upgrade. Food didn't take too long, but very disappointed with the breakfast we got. Very plain looking. No effort made with the presentation. Sausage was tasteless and mushrooms too salty. The counter pastries and muffins looked good.

Stopped by for a late breakfast and was impressed. Quite a wide selection to choose from. Very friendly staff. Saw the lady at the counter come over and ask everyone about their experience with the food. I had a Big Breakfast and it had a good variety of different foods. My wife had Eggs with Sourdough. It was done well, just the way she wanted it. The Cappuccino was great as well. There is an outdoor section as well, which is what we chose and enjoyed the sun.
