Let down by service... Dined in on a Friday night with my partner. I walked in - no greeting from staff, was just stared at until I asked if the Kitchen was still open. We sat outside because my partner had his dirty work boots on, asked the waiter with the cap on if he could turn the gas heater on behind us as it was a bit chilly only to be told "no, we can't". One of the female waitresses was nice enough to pull down the wind cover down instead. The male waiter with the cap came over and took our food order and when asked for his recommendation he said "I don't know I'm vegetarian, both options are very popular". He came off as impatient and trying to rush us (it was not busy and still early) and also referred to me as "Sir" twice when I clearly am not. I ordered the single Lamb Shank with a side of veges - my meal was lovely, decent sized meal but would be nice if it came out hot instead was borderline cold. My partner ordered the Wagyu burger - the patty was medium rare and yuck. We alerted a female staff member who apologised and said she could get another one cooked up but we didn't want to want any longer than we already had so got it takeaway. When the male waiter came back to check up on his he stood a fair way away (I had to turn around to look at him) and when talking to us he kept clicking his knuckles - not sure if that was out of annoyance or what but that was disturbing. We bought up the undercooked burger patty with him and again was met with "I don't know". As much as we wanted to order dessert and a hot drink we opted not to because the service was getting worse by the minute. I have been here before with for my niece's baby shower and had a great time then, unfortunately not this time around and if ever in the area again this will not be our first...
Read moreWhere do I start, considering it's valentines day you would think the restaurant would really try to make couples have a special evening, false. First off I land up damaging my car trying to get into the establishments parking lot. We arrive and it's moderately busy but wouldn't say it's a mad rush. We waited at the front to be seated or atleast greeted for a few minutes but nothing happened so we went to the bar. My reservation I had a made a week in advance hadn't even been thought of but none the less we got a table. We then get given a special menu for valentines day that I was not aware of and it's $60 per person. There isn't much on this menu. Needless to say we wait just over half an hour and we received no service other than someone telling us that they will get back to us. For $60 per person I'd be expecting better service to be quite frank. Also get a uniform as it's hard to distinguish staff from customers. We landed up leaving and going across the road to a take out place that made us feel more valued...
Read moreHave been coming to Ambrosia for years now and it's always been awesome.
Feel like we got ripped off tonight though.
My wife ordered the full rack of ribs and requested for the chips to come in a separate bowl.
Photo of ribs attached. Definitely NOT a full rack unless a full rack is now the size of a half rack.
I approached and asked two different waiters about this issue and they both brushed it off saying its a normal size.
We felt embarrassed and didn't want to make a bigger issue out of it.
To rub salt in it all, as we walked out, we saw a gentleman eating what looked like double the amount of ribs and chips we were served.
Very disappointed we got charged for the full rack amount but received such a little amount of food. $36.50! For maybe 5 rib pieces and not even a handful of chips.
Will change review if Ambrosia fix this up with...
