Salt Cafe — Restaurant in Hawke's Bay

Nice little cafe. Situated in a small shopping centre, with good parking, which makes it more appealing than a place in a busier centre. The small nook with some magazines and kids activities is a nice touch. Lovely mochachino and gorgeous berry and lemon tart. The dishes advertised on a board look very appealing, albeit a bit pricey. The place could do with an upgrade; it looks rather tired and worn. It also was rather noisy, being a small space. When a patron wanted a photograph taken with staff members and everyone talked over everyone else, my friend and I had to stop our conversation as we couldn't hear each other. The kitchen is right in the space and at times the noise of clattering dishes and staff conversing loudly was rather distracting and annoying. I had the pleasure of enjoying Mary’s incredible food from Salt Café at my recent 50th birthday celebration, and I’m still in awe of her amazing talent! The food was truly delicious and catered perfectly to the diverse dietary requirements of my guests. Everyone is still raving about how exceptional it was!

Mary’s attention to detail and knack for creating mouthwatering dishes really made the event extra special. I can’t recommend Mary and Salt Café highly enough – her food truly hits the spot. I’ll definitely be visiting her café again and again!

Came in midday Tuesday, service was fast and cafe food was great. I had a large almond mylk flat white and a g/f, d/f friand that were both incredible. I've got a lot of food sensitivities and in both the café cabinet and the take home meals (you cook the prepped and portioned meals at home) there are lots of options for such a little place.
