Before I started sharing my dinner experience tonight, I would like to say that I enjoyed my two previous dinner experiences very much, the food was great, especially the El Greco pizza bread was sensational, we felt welcomed and overall they made me wanted to revisit again. However, after my experience with the owners tonight, I am afraid I will have to reconsider if we will visit again in the future and so do my friends.
We called and booked a table for 11 including 5 kids and 1 teen. We all ordered a main, 2 glasses of wine, and 5 kids meal. One of my friends and myself were particularly craving for a juicy piece of steaks tonight so we both ordered the scotch filet and would like it to be a medium rare. When our steaks arrived, and I started cutting into it and found it to be more like a medium to medium well rather than medium rare. So did my friend's and also the gentleman who was sitting at the next table opposite to me also thought my steak was a medium, so it wasn't just in my own eyes. I've spent a minute to decide whether I should raise my concerns here or not, but the end I did because for any steaks lovers out there you know you want your steaks right and enjoy every juicy bite of it! So I did and our waitress had called the manager over, and the first thing she said was, "this is medium rare" .... "this is our medium rare" .... "I don't know what you want me to do but this is our medium rare" .... "okay, I'll ask the chef to come and see". The chef came and I believe that he is also the owner of the restaurant, said the same things "this is our medium rare" ... "if you want it more undercooked than this, then you need to order rare" ... "if you order medium rare again, this is exactly what you'll get again" .... "would you like a piece of lamb?" The above quotations are their exact words.
The fact that their degrees of steak doneness is different than the international standard, then I strongly recommend they put that on their menu. I guess tonight is also a lesson for me to learn, is that I should have stick with what the restaurants are offering for their best, for example don't order pasta from a Korean restaurant? So at the end, my friend and I both canceled our orders and appreciate that they have taken off from our check, but the whole conversation about the issue was very unpleasant and to be honest, there are so many new restaurants popping up and this kind of attitude are certainly jeopardizing their business.
Anyway, the kids meals are good in size, taste, and value so I highly recommend that. They have a great selection of wines. Overall, I didn't have a great...
Read moreDonât dine here on your birthday unless youâre a VIP customer. Very disappointing experience on my wifeâs birthday. I booked a table for 2 a few weeks ahead and we dined on the night of 23/10/22 at 6:30pm. I chose El Greco as my wife had a previous good experience with their food. On the booking notes I wrote that we are celebrating my wifeâs birthday and if possible would like birthday writing on the plating of our dessert if they provide that service. To double check whether the message got through I called the restaurant to check if they can do the special message or anything special for her and their response was to order a dessert and they can do it then. Although we were both too full after our meal because I still wanted to surprise my wife we ordered a tiramisu. However it arrived without any writing or even a lit candle. When my wife went to the bathroom I asked the young outgoing brunnette waitress, who looked like either the restaurant manager or maybe the ownersâ daughter, why they didnât put any writing or a candle on the cake as I had specially requested and informed the restaurant beforehand however the waitress shocked me with her attitude. She replied bluntly âwhere do you want me to write it,,thereâs no space on the plate , do you want a smiley face or what?â Maybe that was her usual attitude or maybe she really didnât care but she was so rude and quite possibly racist that I couldnât believe her manners and tone and the way she dealt with the situation. I even explained to her politely that I had actually phoned ahead to confirm the special birthday dessert; that they said to order a dessert and they would do something special but she just continued to defend herself and she kept demanding âso what do you want? What do you want me to do?â. To be honest I was so shocked at her service that I just brushed the whole thing off and said thatâs alright weâll just leave it. when my wife returned we just finished part of our dessert and went up to the counter to pay. Just as we were leaving we see lights turn off and the table beside us had their small dessert delivered with a lit candle and the waitresses were singing happy birthday to the customer. We witnessed this twice while dining tonight so still am shocked at how the waitress could be so blatently rude when clearly they do provide a birthday service. I gave 2 stars as the owner man who was working in the kitchen today usually puts a smile on our face with his outstanding service. However that waitress totally...
Read moreThis dining experience was my worst ever. Went for my birthday with my sisters. Seated promptly and excited as I heard good things, within the first 10 minutes I witnessed the lady in charge mouth⌠Oh for f⌠sake, not feeling this is professional but wanting to ignore, our waitress arrived and whilst distracted and looking around took our drinks order. Our entree came but only for two of us as the waitress after our promoting returned to tell us she had made a mistake. Eventually the third entree arrived, but knowing we had been told we were on a one and a half seating arrangement, time was ticking along. Whenever we signalled to ask for another drink, the staff were either too young or not of age to take our order and raced off to find our waitress, hence making our time tick further by. Our mains came within 5 minutes of our time limit being up. Whilst the food was nice enough, the wait was not. Shortly after finishing our meal, our waitress arrived with the bill and said, hope all was fine, of which we told her it wasnât. We said we wanted desert and had intended to, but the main took too long, at this point the main lady in charge arrived and told us firmly, that is not an option, follow me, we have people waiting for your table, I shall give you all a desert for free instead. Assuming that it would be a desert of our choice, I rose from the table and did as I was told. Much nicer having desert there than taking it away, but still a gesture, I wondered how she had whipped up our choice that she didnât even know so quickly. Approaching the counter to pay, I viewed the bill and started to tell her what part of it I was paying for, at which point, she said, LOOK, WE HAVE PEOPLE WAITING and she started tapping the bottom of the bill and saying, we can split it 3 ways only evenly, it says it right there, tap, tap, tap, whilst handing me a desert I didnât even chose. She made it quite clear, I was to do as she said and immediately. I wholeheartedly describe this as a horrible birthday experience and feel sorry for whoever founded this restaurant and their initial...
