I saw the video on their site which made us try their delicious looking mince and cheese pie. SCAM! Unfortunately those pies are for show and comp only! Because there is almost no cheese at all in their over priced mince and (non existing) cheese pies. Totally be worth it if there was as much cheese as the prize pies. Only after we tried the dissapointing pies that we saw the video of Hilary and Jeremy trying them. The mince and cheese pies they had are much closer to what you would actually get in reality. Not like the extremely cheesy one shared by the female owner and reporter. At least you could make out the small amount of cheese in Hillary and Jeremy's pies, unlike the ones we had today. Pie wasn't too bad. But it's not a mince and cheese if there's no cheese, or so little you can't even taste it. Also, it's more disappointing because their website is very misleading. They're not selling their prize winning pies. Totally skimping out on the cheese. As a mince pie (not a mince & cheese), I'd rate it 3 stars? 1 star rating because she (the owner) was very unwelcoming and rude. She didnt greet me yet she was quick to greet the caucasian woman who walked in some 20 senconds after me. With a smile from ear to ear and a high pitched friendly voice. Then back to serious and moody with me. Pathetic and laughable actually. Won't ever go here again.

Oh fair denizens of Auckland, lend me thine ear, For I shall regale thee with a tale of a bakery so dear, Nestled in Mairangi Bay, where the waves doth crash and roar, Lies a bakery that doth leave all others far behind, and more. For their pork belly and apple sauce pie, 'tis said, Is the finest of all, fit for royalty to be fed, No other bakery in all of Auckland can even compare, To the culinary delights that Mairangi Bay Bakery doth prepare. And lo, a funny worker doth grace their halls, Whose love for my sister doth cause his heart to enthrall, With jests and japes, he doth make the customers laugh and smile, And for this we are grateful, for it doth make our stay worthwhile. Oh Mairangi Bay Bakery, how we doth sing thy praise, For all that thou doth offer, in so many ways, From thy savory pies to thy sweet treats divine, In all of Auckland, no other bakery can even shine. So let us raise a toast to this wondrous place, And to the funny worker, whose love doth embrace, May they forever continue to delight and amaze, And may their legacy endure for many years and days.

Very busy Bakery when I came here, and I can see why. Accolades all over the wall, very similar to dairy flat Bakery and euro passterie torbay. However, the variety of pies here are very different. Normally, I'm a mince and cheese guy, but today, I wanted to try something different. - Braised pork belly and spiced apple pie 5/10 Absolutely unique combination, sliced apple, mustard seeds? Ok. Pork was nice, and It had a but of spice, but I did ask for something different. Not for me, but I'm sure someone loves this. - Salted caramel chocolate cake 9.7/10 This was banging. Moist cake and the salted caramel sauce is really amazing. Small slice for the price, but this was brilliant if you're a fan salted caramel fan. The owner (I think) must be a stand-up comedian at the weekend. What a crack up human being, actually a funny guy.

We asked if they were halal and the manager stated that the "chicken is halal" So we asked to buy the chicken and mushroom pie, We then returned the next day only to ask if the chicken wings were too an employee and they say "not too sure about it" "What about the chicken pies?" "Yeah the ingredients I'm sure it's not Halal"

When told we had them on the basis that it was halal yesterday, she backtracked said "what is halal?"

She called the manager after I requested, and she said its not our fault because "the chicken is halal but not guaranteed the ingredients are"

The staff are clueless about dietary needs and if this was a nut allergy it could have cost someone a hospital visit

I educated them on what is and isn't but they insisted it wasn't their fault

However here's a simple analogy: if you sell a hot dog as vegetarian, you cant put bacon bits on it (and say well it is vegetarian)

Ultimately, I believe they dont disclose the ingredients they do put in their pies, which if you don't have allergies or dietary needs is fine but is simply not ethical or safe for the people that do and have given them the benefit of the doubt in this case but they need educating before they claim dietary restrictions are met...
