Read moreI saw the video on their site which made us try their delicious looking mince and cheese pie. SCAM!
Unfortunately those pies are for show and comp only! Because there is almost no cheese at all in their over priced mince and (non existing) cheese pies. Totally be worth it if there was as much cheese as the prize pies. Only after we tried the dissapointing pies that we saw the video of Hilary and Jeremy trying them. The mince and cheese pies they had are much closer to what you would actually get in reality. Not like the extremely cheesy one shared by the female owner and reporter. At least you could make out the small amount of cheese in Hillary and Jeremy's pies, unlike the ones we had today.
Pie wasn't too bad. But it's not a mince and cheese if there's no cheese, or so little you can't even taste it. Also, it's more disappointing because their website is very misleading. They're not selling their prize winning pies. Totally skimping out on the cheese. As a mince pie (not a mince & cheese), I'd rate it 3 stars?
1 star rating because she (the owner) was very unwelcoming and rude. She didnt greet me yet she was quick to greet the caucasian woman who walked in some 20 senconds after me. With a smile from ear to ear and a high pitched friendly voice. Then back to serious and moody with me. Pathetic and laughable actually. Won't ever...
Read moreWe asked if they were halal and the manager stated that the "chicken is halal" So we asked to buy the chicken and mushroom pie, We then returned the next day only to ask if the chicken wings were too an employee and they say "not too sure about it" "What about the chicken pies?" "Yeah the ingredients I'm sure it's not Halal"
When told we had them on the basis that it was halal yesterday, she backtracked said "what is halal?"
She called the manager after I requested, and she said its not our fault because "the chicken is halal but not guaranteed the ingredients are"
The staff are clueless about dietary needs and if this was a nut allergy it could have cost someone a hospital visit
I educated them on what is and isn't but they insisted it wasn't their fault
However here's a simple analogy: if you sell a hot dog as vegetarian, you cant put bacon bits on it (and say well it is vegetarian)
Ultimately, I believe they dont disclose the ingredients they do put in their pies, which if you don't have allergies or dietary needs is fine but is simply not ethical or safe for the people that do and have given them the benefit of the doubt in this case but they need educating before they claim dietary restrictions are met...
