Dear Mairangi Bay Countdown, we live in Hastings road just at the back of you. It was so convenient to always pop down from the back to the front entrance of the store. From Tuesday you have put a gate so no more access from the back. Don't get me wrong I understand why you did it. It is to keep everybody safe.
But in doing this you never thought of adding a safe walk trough zone or area that is completely out of all harms way for us who normally would walk to the store. For example you could have easily created a foot path from Hastings road next to the dividing wall of residences on your right hand side and still have your gated area to keep every body safe.
So now the Dairy on the corner will scoop up most of that business not just from me but I am sure from others as well who walk to get Milk, Bread, etc. Why would I walk further if the dairy is closer, why would I carry items further if the dairy is closer. Thus you have just lost 90% of my business by adding a gate and not creating a safe area for us the community to walk through.
31/03/19 I would like to add since this gate is up my purchases at CD has dropped significatly but at the same time the few times I have walked around almost everytime I was in a even higher safety risk as I have to walk against oncoming traffic out of your parking lot. My daughter and I have had a number of near miss incudents in your parking lot. It is not safe at all for pedestrians.
If I could reccommend a barriered walk way for the front and similar for the back from Hadtings road. It will not cost CD a arm and a leg to ensure their...
Read moreWoolworths Mairangi Bay, nestled in the heart of this relaxed coastal suburb on Auckland’s North Shore, offers a convenient and friendly shopping experience for locals. The store is smaller than some of the larger branches, but it’s clean, well-organised, and stocked with all the everyday essentials like fresh produce, bakery goods, meats, and household basics. Staff are usually warm and helpful, contributing to a laid-back, community feel that reflects the surrounding area.
Given its size, the product range is a bit more limited, so those looking for specialty items or bulk options might prefer heading to larger stores in Albany or Wairau Park. That said, for everyday shopping and quick top-ups, this store covers the bases well. Stock is generally reliable, though during weekends or busy periods, some items may sell out faster. Pricing is consistent with other Woolworths supermarkets, though some shoppers do keep an eye out for better deals elsewhere, especially on larger grocery shops.
Parking is fairly easy and the store is well located near cafés, takeaway spots, and the beach, making it a convenient stop whether you’re heading home or spending time in the village. Its proximity to schools and retirement communities also makes it a useful everyday hub for a wide mix of residents.
All in all, Woolworths Mairangi Bay is a dependable and welcoming local supermarket. While it doesn’t offer the size or range of bigger stores, it makes up for it with friendly service, convenience, and a calm shopping experience that suits the lifestyle of this...
Read moreThis supermarket has had a great makeover and feels rather upmarket but I'm surprised they haven't made the bakery more of a feature. The bakery is certainly large enough but seems strangely sterile. Everything is swathed in plastic and a lot of the products seem to be bought in from yarrows rather than made on site. I think if they gave this area some more thought and put their own stamp on it, rather just offering the standard woolworths muffins and plastic-encased croissants, it could be a real hit. Also, a small deli counter with nice ham, bacon and picnic treats etc would make sense, given the beach and park nearby, and the fact locals wouldn't have to go to Browns...
