First time dining at northern union gastro pub and was disrespected in so many ways.
My self , father and older brother ( POC/ Polynesian ) decided to go out and eat after a hard day of work and decided to go to northern union gastro pub to find a good steak meal, we were greeted with good food but with a hint of racism 🤦🏽♂️
As soon as we stepped foot on the premises the eyes and looks we got from the locals and employees were disgusting.
Never been before, we ordered food at the counter instead of taking a seat first and waiting for waiters we ordered 3x ( steak eggs and chips ) at $36.50 but portion didn’t match the price. We were asked did we wanna pay now or after we ate. We decided after we ate cause who knows we might be hungry again lol
Employee agreed on us paying after we ate so he gives us our table number, not even 10 mins into waiting he comes out asking us to pay 👀
That’s sus and then goes on to, we need a card to hold onto so they could make a tab as if we were gonna stay long enough to build one.
Sir why would you ask if we wanna pay now or later if you were gonna ask us to pay asap any way make it make sense.
So we question it and the amount of excuses they came up with was appalling, apparently it was apart of their policy.
Asked two tables that were around us not one of them had a tab card or were asked for a card to hold onto.
They thought we were gonna dine and dash
We felt so uncomfortable and so unwelcome
We have worked in silverdale for 4 years now and not once have we been racially profiled like that until today.
SHAME ON...

We went to dinner last night at Northern Union after having tried making a booking over the phone. We were informed that the restaurant was fully booked and that we would have to try our luck. Upon entering the venue, we were not greeted with haste, nor with any manners. The manager was frank and unpleasant, however we were served by a lovely waitress, Sophie, who made up in many a way for our experience. There was a large group, but plenty of other tables were available for most of the night. The Pizza was crispy and very very cheesy (thumbs up), other toppings fell short of the "Loaded Meat Lovers" that was described. The fried chicken was tasty, the dessert, less so. The Snickers Sundae left us snickering. We could not find the Snickers crush, and it seemed they had been replaced by Jaffas. The 3 partly melted scoops of ice-cream tasted more like frozen vanilla milk, the caramel sauce was switched at birth with chocolate, and sadly the fudge was the best part of this desert. Northern Union was sub par. Thank you again for the lovely service Sophie, Northern Union and its managers would do well to learn something from you.

Read moreSadly a disappointing visit. Placed our order and half of it arrived after about 40 minutes, we were dining with kids who just wanted their pizzas for lunch. Was frustrating to see another table receive kids pizzas before us when they had ordered awhile after us. Received the rest of our food after another 5-10 minutes only to find the pizza hadn't been made as requested. Had to eat it as it was, as we didn't want another long wait. Dessert came and we were told some components were missing as they didn't have all of the ingredients. And then a wrong drink delivered. So all in all bit of a write off. We were told the chef was new, so hopefully things come right within the kitchen otherwise more customers will be lost, as I'm unsure we'll...
