Judging by the other reviews, we must have caught this place on a bad night. Our table of 5 was seated quickly, the place was not that busy, only 5 to 10 tables with people. We mentioned to the waitress that the table was quite sticky, so the waitress went and got a cloth and wiped 2 sides of the 4 sided table. Missing quite a bit. She then came back with a tea kettle of water, which was a nice touch. But she didn't hang around to ask about any drinks order. About ten minutes later she returned with a bunch of menus and only then asked about drinks.
We ordered a bottle of wine to share and a beer.
We received our wine and beer. And ordered food. Two x catch of the day, two x lamb shanks, and one steak.
Food came out pretty quickly, but maybe that was a bad thing. The steak was good. The fish smelt really badly of fish. It might have been the catch of the day, but it certainly wasn't a recent day, definitely not fresh. The lamb shanks were seriously undercooked. Still pink near the bone. Lamb shanks should be slow cooked, and the meat should fall off the bone. I had the shank, and eating this meal was a fight! Had to leave a fair bit of meat on the bone as I didn't want to go caveman style.
When we were all finished we had to ask for our table to be cleared of the plates, as the empty fish plates were still quite pungent.
The decor and ambience was pleasant enough, but the staff were really inattentive, we would have likely had another few drinks easily if we were asked/offered. As it was, we went back to our hotel and used the bar there.
Based on the meals and the service we received, I couldn't recommend this place. Maybe we chose poorly, as the table behind us ordered ribs and they came out smelling amazing and we heard noises of pleasure from the table. And the steak was...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived to the restaurant we were welcomed warmly by Manoj. He let us choose our table ourselves and we chose a comfortable little 4 top in the back corner of the inside. To say Manoj was friendly is an understatement. He was the kind of friendly you normally only have as if we had been coming for years. With regards to the food itself, one word, stellar! We atarted our dining experience with the Onion Fritters which were crispy but not burnt at all. For our main course we shared the Steak which was a perfect medium rare with amazing vegetables and we also ordered the Burger without bacon which was flavorful and also had a fantastic sweet pickle on it which my Wife Loved. The one thing I wanted to note is that we ordered the Steak with the mushroom sauce on the side. Though the mushroom sauce is delicious enough to eat like a soup, the steak for so beautifully seasoned that the sauce felt like it was deluding the flavor of the Steak. I recommend getting it on the side so you don't miss out, as you will have to keep yourself from drinking the sauce, but you will be able to enjoy the absolutely amazing flavor of the Steak. The feel of the restaurant is so comfortable and I could see us spending countless hours here if we were local to the area. I do want to do Manoj and the staff a favor and point out that this is a restaurant exclusively and not an actual Post Office. That said, anyone in the area would be hard pressed to find a better restaurant. From the Staff to the ambiance to the food, this place excels in all areas. Thank you for the beautiful experience Manoj. You have set a high bar for future restaurants...
Read moreI recently planned my little sisters 21st birthday and decided to have it at the Post Office Public House. I had been here once for a friends 21st many years prior and knew it would be a great venue. I contacted Manjor to make plans to organize the birthday. Right from the beginning he was supportive and committed to making my vision for the birthday come to life. During the planning process he was great with answering my questions, he listened to what I wanted the night to look like and informed me of the things he and the team could do to help make the evening go smooth. The lead up was smooth and I felt supported and less stressed as we continued to sort the big and small details which made me feel more relaxed. The night of the celebration both him and his team went above and beyond to make sure my family, the birthday girl and I had all we need. We had a delay with speeches before dinner that was scheduled to be served at 7pm and he and the team had kept the food in the kitchen to keep it hot before bringing it out. That among all the other things like making sure our area was warm for our guests and making sure we had drinks made our night memorable. The team was friendly, welcoming and the food was also amazing. if anyone is considering having an event such as 21st birthday or even a family dinner, work function or finding a place for a bite to eat I would highly recommend The Post Office Public House. The food is great with multiple options and variety. Its cozy, welcoming and clean, the staff are friendly and everything is...
