Thai Mekong Restaurant — Restaurant in Manawatū-Whanganui

Misinformation right from the first confirmation email after ordering online had us questioning when the order would be delivered as the email said Friday and Saturday delivery, so we called the restaurant to confirm it was actually coming tonight (Monday).

When the order arrived, we were missing an entree of satay chicken and we had Jasmine rice not coconut rice that we ordered. We again phoned the store and were told 'no its all there, you're wrong' so we told them that's fine but we won't be back. About 5 minutes later we got a phone call back from someone else who asked what was wrong and they said they'd deliver the missing entree but we're wrong about the coconut rice and they wouldn't fix it. We carried on eating g while we waited for the missing entrée, no point in it getting colder while we waited. The entree finally arrived when we'd finished, The delivery driver was very apologetic and asked if the rest of the order was ok, and was told again about the rice issue.

He must've got back to restaurant and told them cause we got another call saying they'll now bring our correct rice We said don't bother we've finished eating now and were asked if we'd like to pick it up later?

In the nicest possible way there were too many people involved on our order, they need to get better systems in place to get the order out in one go and to ensure they're not overriding each other's decisions. A very poor first experience with this restaurant for the amount of...

I highly recommend this Restaurant. The entrée was a little expensive for the content, but still very tasty; the mains were served still bubbling on a hot-plate and far more appetising and fulfilling than The Strong Room, and at two thirds of the price.

The Crispy Pork was delicious with a bite that required some tissues half way through to blow my nose with - loved this meal; the crispy duck was sweet with a little, but not too much, spicy heat. And both served on hot-plates with the sauce bubbling away underneath. We adored the taste of each, though the veges were a little low, but the meat, on the other hand, was more than enough and we truly felt satisfied afterwards (and hot!).

If you don't like hot food, don't order hot food - don't give Indian or Thai food a low rating because you expected less spice, it's what some of these restaurants do best and they should be applauded for it.

The interior has a nice ambience that isn't too cluttered or overdone, simple Thai decorations with some plant life to help liven the scenery up, and staff were all polite, and not in the least bit, unwelcoming.

Waited for 10 minutes to be seated as the poor young girl in front of house looked like she was struggling with POS and orders. Then waited 55mins after ordering with still no starter(entree). Paid for our two drinks and explained that we were leaving because they were now serving people who had come into the restaurant 25 minutes after we had. I was told it was hectic because of the two large groups. I almost laughed as the there was no more than 20 people in the restaurant. At this point our starters came out but by then I was as annoyed as the poor guy who had been waiting an age for his take out. Food here is usually very good but their admin is shocking, relying on young kids to run front of house.
