For a small town fish & chip shop Basils is the place to find great tasting takeaways at an affordable price. The chips are my favourite, well cooked and crispy with good portions of fish. I recommend you try them if in Masterton.

Best fish and chips in town with less amount of oil and fair price. Perfectly cooked chips. Will visit again. They are transparent as the cooking is visible to public through the glass window from outside the shop.

We recently moved to Masterton, already we are convinced this is the best takeaway for Chinese meals and F&C. Sometimes the wait is quite long, a testimony to it's popularity!

Staff said they were overwhelmed by orders and would not take my order for 1 scoop of chips for my son. I asked 3 times how long the wait was but she refused to answer just said they had other orders to do. I guess my order wasn't large enough so I went to another fish n chip shop who were more than happy to take my small order. Would have been happy to wait if she had replied and given an answer so we could make our own decision as we had not been to Basils before but after this service not so...

Made a bulk order of 17 fish and chips for a group of friends

Thought it was great value for Hoki freshly battered.

Nearly every one commented on the decent portions and how nice the fish was, hardly any oil compared to typical fish and chips.

Will definitely come back next time pass through Masterton and feeling like...

Don't really want everyone knowing that I live on fast food! But- they do make the best egg burgers in town and everything else is pretty good too! ( In my humble opinion)**✓✓ Basically it's home cooked. Got to be better for you than, Maca's, KFC,B-king etc. And it's locally owned and operated ! Why wouldn't...
