Strada was a bit of a mixed bag for us.
We arrived without reservation and were eventually able to secure a table for our party of 5. Though it was quite a busy morning, the cafe itself is very small and cramped. It is not well equipped for accommodating large groups and when seated there is little to no room between tables.
We did not know prior to arriving that we could have reserved a table however, and as such could have alleviated that issue had we known before hand.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. They were quick to take our order and serve our food and drinks.
The food here is what you'd expect from any cafe, as is the coffee. My breakfast was nice, but the overall quality of food plated didn't reflect the price. HOWEVER that is not to say that it was bad either. I ordered the Big breakfast and felt that for (approx) $20-25 it was fairly underwhelming.
One of our party had a piece of cake after her meal, which she let me try, and I must say it was beautiful.
I asked for an extra shot of coffee, was charged for it, but received a very weak coffee. When I told the waitress she was apologetic, replacing it for free and refunding my money for the coffee which was absolutely high class.
Strada would be a lovely cafe outside of peak times and I would definitely come back here. However I would absolutely not recommend coming when it is busy.
Our overall experience was ultimately dampened by how busy and cramped it was which is a shame because for the most part the food and coffee was good.
Credit where credit is due the staff were amazing all around. I'd award Strada 4 stars on the strength of their excellent...
Read moreVisited Cafe Strada for a late lunch whilst spending a day in Masterton with my wife. Most tables were occupied which we thought was a good sign for a Cafe but we forgot that almost every business is closed on a Sunday! We located a corner table which still had the dishes on it from the previous gusts and waited for ten minutes or so for someone to take the used dishes away but nothing happened althougfh there over four staff serving customers whilst we were there and yes, they were fairly busy but not extremely so! In the end my wife had to go to the serving counter and ask for someone to clean our table which was done several minutes later. Then we placed our order and paid for it with my wife ordering the vegeterian Nachos with some avocado on top (as an extra) and for myself the chicken fettuccine. My meal was good but my wife discovered very early that her Avocado was so hard that her knife was not cutting it easily but even worse, the "vegeterian" Nachos had a good amount of beef mince!!! When we complained about it, the young lady apologised for it but no explanation was offered as to why the error occured and offered to refund the value of the meal to which my wife responded that, that was not the point! Still, she returned and placed the cash value of my wife's meal on our table, again apologising but by then our disappointment had reached maximum level and all we wanted was to get out of the place. Sorry but we would not be back and Strada needs to get their...
Read moreExcellent service and great food. The Strada Cafe and Restaurant was really lovely and a cut above the Regent Cinema in my opinion. We had a meal each from the "Light Meal" section of menu and were allowed a Regular Drink or Small Coffee as part of the "Movie Meal Deal" with Regent Cinema. I was told that as a part of the movie meal deal we could choose to buy items from the regular menu, such as steak or salmon dishes and we would just have to pay the difference. However they are unable to upgrade the drink the same way for some reason but they upgraded my small coffee to a large Iced Mocha for free. I had an Open Caesar Chicken Burger and my girlfriend had a Beef and Bacon Burger. We also had a small Hazelnut latte and Mocha each which were quite good. The food was well cooked and tasted great. The sauce on the burger was really good and they used nice salads. However the bacon was a little burnt but I like mine crispy so it worked out. I really enjoyed the Iced Mocha as I knew I would, made with real ice cream and coffee. Delicious! Meals were very affordable, $59 for two people which also included the movie tickets. Very happy with my experience here and would be happy...
