Columbus Coffee — Restaurant in Napier

Went for lunch was told that there would be a 10 minute wait ended up waiting for 20 minutes. I ordered a large long black and a breakfast frittata. The coffee arrived and it was in what I thought was a regular cup and the tide was out (only half full) when I queried this I was told that it was a large so I asked for some hot water in my cup went and sat down took a sip of my coffee only to find out it was cold. When my frittata arrived it was still cold in the middle. I have had coffee's and food at other Columbus cafes and they were great. This one wasn't 😡 Ever since then I just love coming here now as the food and service has improved a hell of alot today the 29th December my husband and I had lunch we both enjoyed it. Didn't clean a single table the entire time we were there. No clean tables available so we sat at one that just had a few plates/cups left. After 2 staff walked back from delivering coffees empty handed we moved the dishes to a neighboring table. Of the tables that did get cleared none were cleaned. Baby chair looked grubby too. And no, it wasn't a short staff thing because there were 2 girls busy chatting doing nothing behind the counter. Older couple had grabbed water glasses and I had to let them know one of the glasses was grubby as they didn't see. Was asked if I wanted chips or salad with my bagel, only to see I was charged an extra $12.50 for the chips I said yes to, when they made it seem lile it was a choice of side. Food was delicious. The lady that served us was pretty average... not polite, after ordering 2 flat whites we returned 1 as it was a cappuccino.... after seeing Bridget and her workmate Cara(I'm sure) looking and swearing in our direction we were given exactly the same rubbish version of a flat white(cappuccino) we left it at that. I ordered the big breakfast, eggs are well over cooked. Now I have eaten here before and it was amazing with excellent service. All the staff are different...
