Giuseppes Fish & Chips & Burgers — Restaurant in Nelson

OK so let me explain some context, we have our 'go to' place which is 20 minutes drive from home, but as I work close to it, picking up and rushing home is easy. BUT we have been hunting for a CHIPS ONLY place for when 'ya jus need some chips to go wit a meal'.

Great chip flavour. Brilliant crunch. Light fluffy interior. Fair portion size. It is our new go to for hot chips in a hurry.

Some folks complain that the 'girl' is rude or surly. I disagree - I suspect her blank expression is a cultural thing, don't read anything into it.

I gave zero points for atmosphere because it, just like lots of other chippies is a tiny store designed to produce tasty food for you to... wait for it... Wait for it... TAKE AWAY! it's not supposed to have atmosphere.

Phone ahead if ordering - the wait was quite long, and the food was average. Greasy and over cooked - a higher fat temperature would have ensured that the chips would not have been greasy, and that they wouldn't take as long to cook.

The menu was only burgers and usual fish and chip fare - no Chinese food, and many of the deep fried items were preprocessed (i.e. toppers, fishcakes, etc).

There are better places in town, but like I said, these fish and chips are average - not...

I ordered a burger and chips. The chips were a nice golden yellow with plenty of crispy bits! In any case, far superior to Victory Square chips. The burger was a typical burger that tasted pretty good. All served nice and hot with appropriate portion sizes.

The menu is easily visible in store with clear pricing. I love how all of the food is wrapped at the counter! The seating arrangement could be improved. The drinks fridge is hidden...
