Cafe Istanbul — Restaurant in North Island

Group of 11 ate here for a birthday dinner Thursday 9/12/21, the service was on point, we were very well looked after, given the large corner table and not forgotten about at all. The food was amazing, we had a selection of their table menu and it did not disappoint. There was a steady stream of customers coming and going for the two hours we were there, so they are obviously very popular, it will now be our go to Turkish in Tauranga. We were very impressed, so thank you 🙏

We’ve eaten out a lot in the last few months and I’ve got to say everywhere we’ve been the service has been just awful, (Phoenix, Worlds End Pub as a couple examples) your lucky to be asked even once for a drink and not a single place has given decent table service, have not had any wait staff anywhere come back to offer more drinks without being called over and made to feel like your being a chore. Sunday night. Busy day with sport and work. Start to cook dinner and every turns to custard. What to eat then? Let’s do takeout. Usual options weren’t satisfactory. We (me, wife and two teen boys) go through the meals/costs. Long story short we settle for kebab. Place an order online in 5 min, and it says order will be ready in 10. I drive down. I step foot inside and “every staffer ” “one by one” turn around and say good evening to me. I get my bag, pay say thank you. Then everyone again says good night on my way out.
