Celebrated my sons 4th birthday at the Rotorua Chipmunks but unfortunately wasn’t pleased with the overall experience. The staff were generally really friendly and assisted us where possible but for the price I paid the experience didn’t live up to that expectation.
I purchased the most premium birthday package they had on offer and added food extras with the preferred cake being an ice cream cake, a premium branded birthday gift curtesy of chipmunks and a visit from Charlie the chipmunk mascot. The food itself was delicious and was served to everyone fast and hot so no complaints about the food.
However I was very disappointed in the size of the ice cream cake. There were around 15/20 people that attended with only 10 servings of cake that had to be sparingly shared amongst people, with some having to miss out. As soon as I received the cake it was melting so by the time people had finished their serving it had completely melted on their plates.
The premium birthday gift was also very disappointing and products you’d expect to purchase from a $2 shop. One being a tin pencil case with nothing inside it and a purple fabric lunchbox. None of the staff bothered to ask what gender the child was so my son ended up receiving a purple lunchbox.
The chipmunk mascot only visited the children for no less then 5 minutes before leaving and had minimal interaction with the children and didn’t seem very enthusiastic. The facility was very busy so it was difficult to try and enjoy the moment.
This is an honest review from a customer that had invested a lot of money into something that unfortunately didn’t live up to that expectation. What I will say is besides the few negatives the staff were really friendly and the food and...
Read moreExtremely tiny space all cramped together, way too crowded, needs a cap on amount of people at a time. Dirty tables and floors and everything about it looked dated. Staff were standing around chatting instead of cleaning tables which people needed to use. Adults have no regard for little kids and seem to think it's ok to jump on slides and equipment ahead of small children, staff should be enforcing no adults on bouncy castle slide... super disappointed, left after 30 minutes of being there so was a waste of money. Even my 4 year old said she didn't want to go back on the same day as staff said we can always come back later in the day. We live in Auckland and have been to many other chipmunks there which have much better standards. Edit: we weren't there on the weekend it was on a...
Read moreAbsolutely rude owner. As we pulled up we saw her berating a group of children/ teens out of Motion building. After expressing we were unhappy that the venue was closing an hour early for a private event as this meant only 1hr or play time (we travelled from out of town) we were met with a rude and condescending attitude which escalated into conflict infront of our children. After coming onto reviews we see this is a RECURRING issue. These owners obviously need to give up their day job as they do not have the integrity or safety to be in business where it concerns...
