Honest Review:
I went to this restaurant with my family with great hopes that since ambience is good, the service & food must be similar. Firstly the good aspects. Being a weekend the place was slightly busy. Ambience good we had to slightly wait longer for our order but that's Ok. The starters which was Tandoori chaap was reasonably good. Then we ordered mains had ordered this dish subz handi which was supposed to be creamy spicy dish with a bit sweet flavor. When the dish was served to us, it was tasting like Vegetable korma, taste was of boiled vegetables. The owner ( who also served this) clarified upon serving that he had not made usual creamy, but Indian style. When we ate this it was tasting like home made food, no cream. Anyways, we finished food and made bill payment and informed owner Abt this, again he said same thing and said we made this way bec some customer did not appreciate the taste last time around. This is SenseLess as one is supposed to make dish as described in Menu, else why go outside and overpay for the thing when we can make that at home in same manner. Then other STUPID thing suggested by owner and wife ( they have less staff so this family doubles up as waiting staff) that wait and we will make another dish in correct way. All this after we hv already finished food and paid bill. Seriously, this restaurant needs to be AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. Very bad...

We had a truly delightful experience at House of Spice during our recent visit to Rotorua. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality by the staff—special thanks to Gagan and Jaspreet (apologies if the names are incorrect), who were exceptionally friendly and attentive throughout.
For starters, we ordered the Non-Veg Mix Platter and the Amritsari Fish, both of which were packed with flavor and beautifully presented. In the mains, we enjoyed the Gaon Fish Curry, Goat Curry, steamed rice, and Garlic Naan—every dish was rich in taste and authenticity. We paired our meal with Mango Lassi and a refreshing mocktail, which perfectly complemented the spices.
The ambience of the restaurant added even more to the experience—cozy, welcoming, and full of charm. My wife, my son, and I all thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
A big thank you to the team at House of Spice for the wonderful food and service. We’ll definitely be back on our next...
