Gamboni's Deli — Restaurant in North Island

Gamboni's is a great deli -- a little bit off the beaten path but worth looking for. A superb selection of Italian deli foods (what else?) What I really liked was that Gamboni had no qualms about referring me to a different delicatessen (C'est Cheese in Featherston) for the exact product I was looking for (Kosher dill pickles) rather than try to sell me something that was close but not quite. The stuff he did sell me was well priced and of superb quality....

This is one of Karori's true gems, and there aren't many on that list. For a giant suburb it's a strange backwater, but a visit here makes it worth it. Whether you live there or somehow find yourself passing through to the true end of the earth that is Makara, stop here, pick up a birthday present, wrapped, or buy something for yourself....
