Located at the charming seaside suburb of Eastbourne, Hive Café is a destination worth the scenic drive along the waterfront on a sunny day.
Established in 2016, Hive exudes warmth and authenticity, offering a space that caters to everyone—from locals to visitors like myself venturing out from Lower Hutt.
Hive impresses with its variety of dining areas: cozy indoor seating downstairs, a quieter upstairs section, and a spacious courtyard out back perfect for soaking in the fresh air. The relaxed and quiet atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for unwinding, catching up with friends, or even working remotely with its extensive WiFi and ample power outlets.
The menu and cabinet selections are thoughtfully curated, featuring options like freshly baked almond croissants, ham off the bone baguettes, and the beloved Spanish Breakfast that has been a staple since the café’s inception. Beverages include coffee brewed with locally roasted Karamu beans and seasonal kombucha for something refreshing.
The staff are attentive and efficient, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Parking is stress-free, thanks to the absence of parking meters—an unexpected bonus in today’s world.
Hive prides itself on its “always fresh, everyday” mantra, baking everything from scratch daily and striking a balance between meeting demand and reducing waste. This ethos shines through in the quality of their offerings.
Whether you’re a local or an out-of-towner, Hive Café is a place where great food, excellent coffee, and a welcoming atmosphere come together. It’s definitely worth checking out the buzz...

It needs to be addressed as they are fowling everywhere and the last thing you want to do is wash the seat before you can sit on it. When you leave check out the green grocer...
Read moreGood range of gluten free cabinet food, but unfortunately there was only one option that was raw, gluten free, dairy free, and refined sugar free: the typical bliss ball (which my daughters and I enjoyed.) It'd be so great if they stocked 'Raw Goodness' treats - one of those with a Hive coffee would be worth going back for :) Friendly and prompt service. Beautiful setting in the garden and pleasant atmosphere inside as well. Children's toys and highchair available. Really delicious & perfectly made long black with their own roasted coffee 'Hive'. You can buy the coffee beans there, too. Clean and...
