House of India — Restaurant in North Island

This is such a hidden gem. I rarely write reviews but I have to let people know how great this restaurant is. I honestly think House of India serves the best Indian food in NZ. I’ve been to many Indian restaurants in Auckland and this beats all of them. The service is great, food is served fast and it’s seriously delicious. Please do yourself a favour and make sure to visit this restaurant in Tauranga! FYI the special garlic butter chicken is probably the best bite of food...

used to be my go-to place, but went tonight and it wasn't good. the garlic naan tasted like the cheap frozen naan you get at the supermarket. had high hopes for the butter chicken, but the rice was cold (ordered and picked it up from restaurant) and the butter chicken did smell great but tasted so bland like something was missing, you wanted to add it to the naan to give it more flavour but both together was awful. unfortunately won't be coming back, such a shame as it used...

House of India in Otumoetai Tauranga is a hidden gem. Curries were great with the right amount of spice as requested. Don't listen to the whingers, this is the place to go. Surrounds are pretty typical for most Indian restaurants in the suburb's and like everywhere there are Uber drivers coming in from time to time. But if it's the curry you are after this is the place. The family involved are also lovely and accepted our late booking for a party of 30. Well done...
