Nicoletta's — Restaurant in North Island

Found this little gem of a place called Nicoletta's just opposite Roxy cinema in Miramar. They are open between 10:30am and 4:30pm from Tuesday to Saturday (Saturday opens earlier at 10) The cabinets to the left were filled with massive slices of pizza, and to the right of the counter were full to the brim of pastries and treats. The quaint blackboard filled with a huge variety of drinks from iced latte to milkshake. The mermaid latte and charcoal latte caught our eyes, as well as the iced strawberry matcha, I was drawn to the iced bounty, which is coconut and chocolate, and we tried a good variety of their cabinet offerings. We got the most popular flavours of pizza, which were the pepperoni and smoked mushroom, the slices were massive and we loved the flavours, lots of cheese on the smoked mushroom and the mild smokiness was a big hit. Their cinnamon roll was a buttery brioche like bun with super fragrant cinnamon rolled in, the sweetness was perfect and was not sickly, which I am always afraid of when eating sweet things. The almond Danish was a delight, I managed to get a nice photo of all the layers of the pastry, this one I was very taken with! I am usually not a big fan of biscotti but it came highly recommended so we decided to try out, and I could see why, the short pastry shell was perfectly crumbly and just the right thickness with a gooey centre, and the meringue on top completed this beautiful tart! We also tried the tiramisu donut which was very creamy on the inside and had a nice tiramisu flavour to it. For drinks I really loved my iced bounty, which was the perfect amount of coconut flavour, the mermaid latte was very much like a chai latte with all the beautiful spices infused, the charcoal latte was very mild but charcoal apparently is healthy, right? 😄 My friend really enjoyed her strawberry matcha and said the matcha flavour was really nice, the service was friendly but not intrusive, and the environment was cute and well lit, apparently their milkshakes are very popular too, and we also had our eyes on the calzone cos they were so big! Maybe next time! Seems like a great place for an afternoon tea, and with the variety you can easily try different things every time you go! Pleasantly surprised...

I was very disappointed with the cake that I got delivered. The lady at the counter failed to tell me to not put the cake in the fridge as the cake was supposed to be at room temperature. I feel like this is such an important information which clearly wasn’t provided to me and the cake was over $100. When I spoke to the owner, she just wouldn’t budge. She instead told me that it was written on the box (apparently) she did agree that somehow her employee didn’t provide me that information. The fact I spent over $100 for a birthday cake which was basically a brick so obviously I was utterly disappointed but on top of that the dealing with the owner didn’t help the situation at all and she started playing blame games which was really annoying. I am pretty sure any decent owner would have done something different in this situation rather than just thinking about herself. Honestly, mistakes happen but to acknowledge the mistakes takes a lot which clearly wasn’t the case here.I would not recommend this place to anyone, save your money and go...

I went here to see if I could order a birthday cake for my child. Before I even finished my sentence about wanting to order a cake for.................................

someone in the background said " No, no we are not taking any orders for cakes we are too busy no no." This person wasn't talking to me they were talking to the person serving me.

Considering I had not actually said when I wanted the cake for or what it was for OR even taking into account that was actually RIGHT THERE in front of this person and yet she chose not to address me, I thought this was particularly rude.

Yup, there are other places that can and do do better. But this was local so I was trying to help my local business.
